A new Counterpoint Research report has it that Apple made lots of sales back in 2022. The iPhone lineup in fact was among the top 10 best-selling smartphones the same year.
For context, 8 of the top 10 smartphones sold last year came from Apple alone ad the previous iPhone 12 series was among the top devices the company sold which accounted for an estimated 5% of total smartphone sales around the globe and 28% of all iPhone sales.
The vanilla 13 was the best-selling phone in the US, UK, China, Germany, and France between September 2021 and August 2022.
Within the iPhone 13 series, the high-end 13 Pro Max was the second highest-selling smartphone from Apple which accounted for a 2.8% share of all global smartphone sales and then followed by the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The 14 Pro Max is also the first time a Pro Max iPhone outsells the regular-sized Pro and vanilla counterparts.
In fourth place is Samsung’s affordable Galaxy A13 but directly behind it is yet another Apple product, the iPhone 13 Pro which meant that Apple’s iPhone 13 series accounted for three of the top five most popular devices in 2022.
In sixth place is yet the iPhone 12 which was launched as far back as 2020 and then followed by the base iPhone 14 which had an estimated 1.5% of all sales.
In places such as the US, China, and Japan, the vanilla iPhone 12 model was widely popular while the iPhone SE (2022) made it to the ninth place, and Samsung’s Galaxy A03 was in the 10th place.
The success of the iPhone can b attributed to its quality as well as the user-centered approaches Apple takes to ensure its device is top-notch.
Also, the brand image is so strong that everyone wants to be associated with it as it represents status since they are quite pricey, it’s assumed to be a luxurious product by most consumers.
Even though Android smartphone makers such as Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and OPPO are making great devices, Samsung seems to be the only direct rival that cold take Apple on in the international market but Apple’s reputation is very immense to the point that most of those who have an expensive Android smartphone would at some point consider getting an iPhone.
Even with the toughened economic situation across the globe, Apple continues to dominate the smartphone market with the yearly iteration of its smartphones and continuous software support which is lacking in many Android smartphone devices.
