There were several reports pointing to the fact that Apple might debut its iPad Pro 2021 model later on in this month of March and some reports are much more specific about the date pointing to March 23rd as the date but who knows.

There is also the likelihood of the device being released alongside the next-gen AirPods 3 and the much awaited location-aware AirTag tracker.

Speaking of the iPad Pro, the previous model released back in 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t have too much upgrade especially in the processor department and its design is much similar to the much older 2018 model and as we all know, Apple isn’t the type of company that changes its product designs so often.

But despite the similar look and feel, there were some upgrades within the device’s system which includes the LiDAR sensor as well as the trackpad-enabled Magic Keyboard case which is pretty pricey.

With that said, there have been different news that points to the fact that the iPad Pro 2021 will be as powerful as a MacBook due to the high-end components that the device will ship with.

The company had recently ported its own custom-made M1 chips on its Mac computers and that seems to be the case for the iPad Pro which will feature some really powerful chipset as well to boost its capabilities.

But aside chipset and probably a mild tweak to the design of the device, below are some of the cool features we’ll be expecting on the next-gen 2021 iPad Pro.

120Hz OLED Panel

Even though Apple might seems adamant to making a 120Hz refresh rate display on its iPhone 12 series, that already exist on the iPad Pro. However, if the company could port in a much better display technology like the OLED or Min-LED on the device, it will definitely be appreciated.

Apple including an OLED panel on all of its iPhone 12 series might point to the fact that the company is looking on to doing this for the iPad Pro 2021 as well.

The device is targeted at designers and its a powerful creative tool with some powerful image processing capabilities. A tweak to the display technology will be very much appreciated.

An M1 processor for an iPad

Even though the A12Z chip that powers the 2020 iPad Pro is to be fair pretty fast but this can quickly fade with time and considering the fact that the chipset isn’t much faster in benchmark when compared to the A12X processor that powers the 2018 iPad Pro, then we might be right to expect a much faster upgrade this time around.

If Apple is trying to make the iPad Pro a powerful machine that’s as powerful as the MacBook Air for example, then it might just be a good idea to port in the new M1 chip or if the Cupertino-based tech giant wants to focus more o the iPad-focused chipset then some upgrade to the current ones might be a great idea.

We know this will be another ultra expensive piece of gadget and Apple will definitely make it worth the while and that’s why the speed should also continue to be the essential part of the 2021 iPad Pro’s ecosystem.

It’s 2021, so 5G

The 2020 model of the iPad Pro doesn’t have 5G support and that might be reasonable because the time Apple joined the 5G ship, it was towards the end of the year so that could point to the fact that the company might be working on bringing in the 5G capabilities on its 2021 iPad Pro.

But if you’re skeptical about this, you might consider the fact that the iPad Pro doesn’t even support LTE – not even on its expensive laptops and its time the company make this happen because this is 2021, the beginning of a new decade so 5G support might come handy even though this network is very much at its infancy.

A better pencil

Recent reports claimed that Apple may have a newer version of the Pencil stylus, maybe one that’s more compact or have additional touch-based controls (or a new tip?). The second-gen Apple Pencil debuted back in 2018 and there’s already iPad stylus fragmentation, with differing levels of support in different iPads for the first- and second-gen Pencil. 

An even better iPadOS?

Apple maintains multiple operating systems across its array of product line-up and the iPadOS which is made in reminisce of the MacOS can be made to become much more powerful than it is currently.

The iPadOS despite the fact that its pretty fast and well equipped is still incapable beside the MacOS when compared side by side and its as though some features are intentionally ripped out of the iPadOS so it doesn’t match the MacOS or maybe I’m just over thinking this.

Although the iPad Pro now offer some cool support for external accessories such as trackpads, mice and Thunderbolt peripherals which makes it play the full-fledged computer affair making the software even more computer-like will be a great thing for the product line.

By March 23rd we should be able to see what the 2021 iPad Pro have to offer as well as the interesting software upgrades that makes the device fascinating.
