Amazon had launched offcially its new game engine Lumberyard. This amazing great game engine is open to developers for free. The company made it known that the software is powerful enough to build a Triple-A games for PCs and game consoles and mobile devices and even VR platforms. And while this would cost users nothing than to download and use, Amazon says it will make its money back by selling some additional web services to developers. The engine is also well integrated with Amazon web servicesand the Cloud computing services as well as Twitch and the Video streaming site which it Boughy back in the year 2014 for about $970 million.
This could be a means of enforcing Amazon on developers?
Whether this is true or not, Amazon is big enough to tie people down just like Google used to. Another motive behind the development is to bring the company benefits at a great level and making third party dependent on its services..
its as simple as that. So the deal goes as Developers developing games for free using the Lumberyard engine and while they are in need for support for adding multiplayer or other connected services, they would have to buy those services from Amazon which is a simple business.
Then, if they want to make live streaming easier for their game, then why wouldn’t they go with Twitch — the market leader and the service that is built directly into the game engine they’re using.
As emphasized by Amazon, developers wouldn’t have to buy server time from them since its not actually required for games with single-player functions and also if the game development company has it’s own private server no problem; and so thy aren’t allowed to rival cloud services which Companies like Google or Microsoft had already dominated.
Although it might not be a bad idea since Amazon would be charging reasonably and their server is exclusively reliable. Now if Lumberyard can be an engine to power the next incredible game with probably 67 millions of monthly players then we can give Amazon the go ahead as the top notch.
Although first impression matters here and the first look at Lumberyard had made it quite promising. Being able to create a game for Windows, Xbox One, PS4 and though the company included Mac on the list alongside Linux, iOS. Android and the Oculus Rift are parts of the coming sons, then Lumberyard is to be watched for. With visually appealing technology, a set of poplualr and powerful development tools that the company licensed from Crytek, and all includes all the usual expectations, with great effects and real time water dynamics to vegetation tools for super realistic plant presumably, Lumberyard would be the next big thing…..
Amazon had also being developing JTS gaming resources for about few years but its not a very smooth journey up till date. The company’s internal gaming team, Amazon game studios hasn’t produced much not and thus suffered a blow of high-profile departures last year — including Clint Hocking, best know for his work on the Splinter Cellseries and Far Cry 2.
Well, one could feel Amazon isn’t trying to go head to had with other developer company instead make gaming resources at first.
It takes the company out of the nitty gritty of making and marketing products, and lets it compete on its home territory — as a supplier.
