We heard that Facebook alongside Ray-Ban are developing a pair of Augmented reality glasses which is going to be both stylish and high-tech. We’ve seen the social network giant dabble into the AR industry with it’s acquisition of the VR compnay, Oculus VR or through it’s new-ish Portal device.
CNBC reported that Facebook had been working on AR glasses for a long time now and it even partnered with brands like Luxottica, the company that makes Ray-Ban glasses to help them launch by the yer 2023 and 2025.
The project is said to be codenamed Orion and it’s in fact designed to take over from smartphones. As futuristic as it sounds, Facebook seems to be busier trying to disrupt the mobile phone industry just in few years to come.
How would one make phone calls if you ask, the device is said to allow you take calls without tethered phone making it similar to Google Glass and display information through it’s screen. They also have a camera for live-streaming. Details are still thin, but it sounds like Facebook is serious and wants to ramp up its hardware efforts.

This isn’t the first time Facebook will be admitting to venturing into the AR glasses business. The company had confirmed this way back in 2018 and a successful launch is what we’re awaiting and considering the likes of Google Glass as well as Apple too been rumored to be coming to the market soon.
