I don’t really understand what Samsung meant by the word “Tactical Edition” but I surely know the company makes military-grade ammunition as well because it’s Samsung and they do all things. But let’s face the fact, the Galaxy S20 is quite a success even though it’s facing the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic globally which is affecting the company’s sales altogether but that’s not the main focus here today…maybe some other times.
Samung just dropped it’s Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition which the company calls a “Mission-ready solution tailored to the unique needs of operators in the federal government and Department of Defense”. The Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition (or S20 TE as we’ll refer to it from now on) is a highly customized smartphone with it’s software tweaked out to work in unison with existing tactical equipment along with DualDAR architecture offering a double-layered encryption. Okay just to clear the ground, let’s drop an image which further explains what the S20 TE looks like shall we.

Other interesting military-level hardware specification of the device includes a night-vision mode, a body-wearing mode which allows the device’s screen to be unlocked in landscape mode and a “Stealth mode” which simply means “Airplane mode” for civilians like us.

The Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition is like any other Galaxy S20 released this year except that it’s a military-grade device. Samsung once had its “Active” variants of Galaxy S flagships since the Galaxy S4. These were AT&T exclusives all the way until the Galaxy S8 when T-Mobile began selling the Galaxy S8 Active in the US. With the Galaxy S9 and S10, there were no rugged Active versions of the phone, but there was a Tactical Edition Galaxy S9. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition will be available from authorized IT channels sometime in Q3 of 2020.
