Samsung has been the subject of numerous speculations regarding the possibility of embracing a stainless steel framework for its top-tier smartphones. However, such conjectures have consistently failed to materialize.
While Samsung’s flagship phones have earned a reputation for their durability, thanks to the employment of an aluminum frame, Apple has enjoyed a slight edge in terms of offering a more luxurious feel through the application of stainless steel frames on their recent iPhone releases.
One potential reason Samsung steered clear of stainless steel might be its tendency to increase the overall weight of the device.
Nevertheless, a recent cryptic tweet from the renowned leaker, Ice Universe, indicates that Samsung is now contemplating a direct leap to a titanium frame for its upcoming Galaxy S24 series.

If this speculation holds true, both Apple and Samsung will be incorporating a titanium frame for their forthcoming flagship smartphones. Interestingly, both companies have already used titanium in their smartwatches previously.
Apple is also rumored to adopt titanium for certain models of the iPhone 15 (specifically, the Pro and Pro Max variants) slated for launch later this year, and it appears that Samsung is determined not to lag behind this time.
As earlier mentioned, stainless steel boasts superior strength compared to aluminum but comes with the drawback of added weight. This is where titanium proves to be a promising alternative. Although titanium is also denser than aluminum, its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio should strike a favorable balance.
Regrettably, the cost of titanium is nearly ten times higher than that of aluminum, leading Samsung to consider reserving the titanium frame for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, in an effort to manage costs and keep prices reasonable.
However, it’s worth noting that this speculation could merely remain a fleeting rumor, and Samsung may opt to adhere to its tried-and-true Armor Aluminum design for the entire Galaxy S24 lineup while reserving the transition to titanium for a future flagship device.
At this early stage, it’s best not to place too much weight on leaked details about the Galaxy S24, but rather, observe with keen interest as the pieces of the puzzle gradually fall into place in the coming months.
In the meantime, we eagerly anticipate sharing our firsthand experience with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with all of you in the days to come.
Samsung’s latest foldable offerings, sporting a sleek aluminum frame, are set to hit the market on August 11 in various regions, and pre-orders are currently open, offering excellent benefits for early buyers, including a $50 credit.
