When LG announced it was exiting the smartphone market, many people were shocked by the news despite the release of its gimmicky swivel smartphone called Wing.
But this isn’t about LG but instead, the multi-dimensional Wing smartphone will reportedly be getting its final Android update later on this year.
The news was announced by 9to5Google stating that LG Wing based on Verizon carrier in the United States will be getting the current Android 11 update.
The device was announced back in Sept. 2020 even before LG announced it was shutting down its smartphone arm.

However, LG will continue to support some of its recent devices especially the LG Wing swivel smartphone even though this might be the final major update the device will ever get.
And if you’re pissed off by the news, you’re right because the LG Wing will not be getting the next-gen Android 12 update – since the company made this clear on its website.
And the fact that many smartphone makers are already rolling out stable Android 12 updates on their flagship devices while LG is just releasing a stable Android 11 on its big swivel smartphone made us deduce to the fact that this might just be the final major Android update for LG Wing.
Regardless, it would be a great surprise that many LG Wing owners would want if the company can release an Android 12 update for the device even though the speed at which the company is doing so might cause a one-year delay.
LG Wing was launched with the previous Android 10 OS on the device.
Speaking of the Android 11 update for the LG Wing, the operating system will include some necessary security patches and changes in conversation bubbles as well as minor tweaks here and there – according to the update’s changelog.
These changes include support for Focus Mode through the quick settings, expanded support for Emergency Alerts, and the apparent removal of some mobile hotspot controls.
