A new Canalys report has it that tablet sales in the Q3 of the year 2021 is down bad compared to the same period last year.
Back in the Q3 of 2020, there was a sharp rise in the sales of tablets with over 44.3 million units sold. That number in the Q3 of 2021 is down by a whopping 15% with the number being 37.7 million.
Apple remained at the top of the tablet market with its iPad models making about 15.2 million shipments for the period and a 40.4% market share which is really huge for the company considering the fact that other Android tablet makers are literally struggling to take a bite of the tablet market share.
Standing in second place is Samsung with around 7.2 million tablet shipments and a 19.1% market share while Lenovo took the third position with 4.3 million shipments and an 11.3% share of the market.
Tablets haven’t really been everyone’s favorite especially due to the fact that smartphones are getting bigger and there are foldable devices now even though they’re still expensive and unpopular, many people don’t find the need to buy a tablet when they can just get a smartphone or a 2-in-1 PC.

Surprisingly, Amazon and Huawei are both on the list with the former making a 28 million shipment while the latter making a 2.5 million shipment respectively making them both among the list of the top 5 biggest tablet manufacturers in Q3 of the year 2021.
Based on regions, Asia Pacific saw a 23% rise in shipments for the Q3 period while Europe, as well as other regions, remained saw a 27% decline when compared to the same period last year.
Despite the grim Q3 performance, Canalys expects underwhelming demand for tablets going forward in most regions apart from Asia Pacific.
