Apple recently released the much anticipated AirPods Max which we thought was going to be named the AirPods Studio by the way instead of releasing any TWS earbuds. Reports we have is that the company may release the next-gen AirPods 3 by 2021.
The AirPods line are the biggest in the market and there are oceans of fake/clone AirPods everywhere you turn which means this is a great product. It’s so great that many people have turned to it during the lockdown as a tool for business communication.
The earbuds allows you the freedom of moving around while making calls rather than being glued to one spot as in the case of wired earphones.
Both the original AirPods and the second-generation took the same design aesthetics which isn’t surprising because barely switch up its entire designs in a bit but when it does, it’s sudden and the company never looks back.
The AirPods Pro was the exception because of the in-ear design allowing for the active noise cancellation to be very effective. With rumors of the AirPods 3 coming out probably next year, there are some cool features as well as redesigns that could make the device much more desirable.
For example, we heard the news that Apple could release the AirPods Pro Lite next-year which will basically be a trimmed-down model of the AirPods Pro we’re already used to. There could therefore be a design similarity probably with the exclusion of the numerous external microphones around the device which gives room for the ANC technology.
But then we have the rumors about the AirPods 3 series and I can’t but wonder if this will actually be the in reminiscent of the AirPods Pro but excluding the ANC technology even though it will include the spatial audio feature. The redesign could bring about a shorter stem and replaceable eartips and have multiple colors.
This will finally be the first time Apple is listening to its customers around the world. But one thing I’ve noticed with the company is that it usually reserve the multi-color designs for its mid-range products which made some question whether there could an AirPods Max Pro by 2021 or beyond which could cost about US$1,000 because Apple’s products are usually expensive and there is nothing we can do about it.
If redesigned to have the in-ear tips, even the exclusion of the ANC technology, the AirPods 3 can still isolate external noise to some great extent because the deeper the ear-tip can go, the better the device can muffle out external noise in your surroundings.
AirPods Pro Lite could also end up being more expensive than the second-gen AirPods, which isn’t ideal at all. Maybe they’d deliver better sound or better battery life to make the possible price bump worth it.
Being able to switch between any Apple product will be a great thing to have but I wouldn’t know if this feature can be achieved via a software upgrade or it will require a completely new hardware to achieve it. But the fact is that being able to switch from an iPhone to your Mac and then back to iPad will be a great thing which will be great for the users’ experience altogether.
So in case you have to make a video call on your Macbook, you can switch out from your iPhone and when you’re done, you can switch back when done. But I have doubts that the Spatial audio feature can work with the Apple TV which can in fact be useful if you’re streaming the Health Plus and then need to do a workout move.
Meanwhile the Gyro is a technology that is available on majority of Apple devices which isn’t on the Apple TV. And lastly, it’ll be a good thing to have a powerful battery life. While my colleague reviewed the Havit TW918ANC earbuds, it comes with ANC, 10MM driver and a whooping 6 to 8 hours of battery life which is amazing and despite costing about US$70 to $80.
