Microsoft is reportedly working on a new UI for its Xbox Home which is expected to land as soon as 2023.

The new UI is expected to bring some UI changes to make it easier to find Xbox games and apps as well as navigate to areas like the settings interface.

The tech giant will also conduct a number of Xbox Home experiments in the next couple of months before it finally launches the Xbox Home UI by 2023.

“We know the Xbox homepage is where our gamers spend the most time, and it’s a space that’s very personal,” says Ivy Krislov, senior product manager lead of Xbox experiences.

“We also know we can always be listening and learning how we can do better here while keeping your experience fast and familiar. With that, we’re kicking off a multi-month series of experiments to learn how to create a more personalized home screen experience and address some of the top trends and fan requests.”

Also, a random subset of Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring is expected to get access to some of the Xbox Home experiments later this week.

The first round of preview updates includes the “jump back in” row which will be located at the top of the Xbox Home and will include the “recently played” games and apps.

Below are two screenshots giving an oversight of what to expect when the new user interface finally drops.

Also, the Xbox TV app has a search feature and quick access to settings both of which will make it to the main Xbox Home console user interface.

There’s even a pinned tile for access to the Microsoft Store alongside the usual “My games & apps” tile. Unfortunately, the ad tile still exists and is pinned to the Xbox Home screen.

Upon scrolling, you’ll also get curated categories and recommendations based on the games you have played.

There seems to have been a lot of clamoring from users to get the Xbox Home user interface redesign done.

While the tweak will make it much easier to navigate the application and make changes conveniently, it also didn’t address some key changes that users want such as the removal of ads.

One thing for sure is that there are still a couple of months left before the year ends and that will give Microsoft a lot of time to make necessary tweaks that are necessary to appease its users.

There are users who would rather have the ability to fully customize the Xbox Home UI, be able to pin applications and games to wherever they want and remove the static tile that’s being forced upon every user.

Also, note that both Android and even iOS-based devices allow users to manipulate their home screens to whatever it is they’d like it to be. It’s still sad that Microsoft hasn’t gotten there just yet.

“We want to ensure this experience is the best it can be, and we know getting it right will take some time which is why we will be rolling it out slowly and iterating throughout the process,” explains Krislov.

“With your input, we’re looking forward to launching this new, better Home experience in 2023.” He added.
