The tech industry is running fast and would require constant skills acquisition to keep up with it. Google had decided to help out by planning to help American workers prepare for IT jobs in the tech industry.
Google yesterday announced a new course in the Python coding language which the company feels is a super important skill that many employers are seeking in newer candidates.
The new program is called the Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate which will be available via Coursera, an online education service similar to Udemy. The program will be a six-course program for beginners and focused on programming for automation.
Another interesting thing is the fact that the search giant had pledged to fund about 2,500 need-based scholarships related to IT training through Google.org which is the philanthropic division of the company. The scholarships will run through nonprofits including Goodwill, Merit America and Upwardly Global.Â

Google for a long time now as well as other tech companies have been faced with scrutiny over the implication of technology and automation on jobs and how it’s disrupting the labor market.
The Python program is an integral part of the “Grow with Google” initiative which was created about 3 years ago with a pledge of about US$1 Billion to help prepare workers for Tech jobs in the future.
By October 2019, the company CEO, Sundar Pichai alongside the White House Advisor, Ivanka Trump did make an announcement about the Google program which is expected to provide a training opportunity of over 250,000 to the Americans over the next five years in order to acquire necessary tech-related skills to help them grow in their careers.
Also, Sundar Pichai announced the company will sign the Pledge to America’s Workers which is a way by which the White House will “expand programs that educate, train and reskill American workers from high-school age to near-retirement.”Â
At the time, Pichai also said Google’s program for certifying IT professionals will expand to 100 US community colleges by the end of 2020. Google on Thursday said that program is available on Coursera too.Â
As for the international communities, Google had made it’s effort global by reaching out through the Google.org website whereby anyone can have access to a philanthropic aide from the American search giant.
