While we’ve reported earlier on that Samsung is planning on releasing some of it’s high-end devices in coming weeks such as the Galaxy Note 20 series for example, the next thing we also heard is that the popular Galaxy Fold 2 could also make headlines but the newest is a “Lite” version of the Galaxy Fold which by it’s name is going to be a much cheaper variant of the Galaxy Fold lineup and had been tipped to be postponed to the year 2021.
While this year so far hasn’t been a good year for Samsung due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and then the protest worldwide about the death of George Floyd, Samsung’s sales had been affected which some rumored could impact the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series but that’s by the way.
The Galaxy S20 series for example isn’t selling as much as it would on the normal according to sales forecast making it the worst sales performance in the Galaxy S-series in recent years. With that, the Galaxy S20 Lite or the Galaxy Fan Edition (FE) which is meant to replace the Galaxy S10 Lite which is expected to be available in stores by October.
But as it is now, Samsung might just be betting the remainder of the year on the forthcoming Galaxy Note 20 series and the Fold 2 due to the bad numbers it had during the first half of the year.

Now let’s talk about the Galaxy Fold Lite a little. Since the advent of cheaper variants of expensive premium flagships, it is nothing new if Samsung had decided to put the Galaxy Fold in the hands of everyone via the “Lite” version which would of course give that folding design aesthetics but with some trimmed out features and specifications usually in the storage department as well as the cameras.
And speaking of the trimmed out specifications, there have been earlier reports that the device could lack 5G technology support as well though could retain the powerful Snapdragon 865 chipset as well as having an aluminium and glass build. The device which is code-named “Winner2” is rumored to be priced at around US$1,099
But while the “Lite” extension of the cheaper Galaxy Fold is still purely rumors, there are chances Samsung could just make it “Galaxy Fold E” or “Galaxy Fold FE” but whatever it is, we won’t be seeing this year anyway as the release is being postponed till 2021.
While the newer report has it the device could be sold for about 1 million South Korean Won which would be US$834. And that price-cut might just mean it would be more affordable but this is merely a report as it’s not official just yet.
