Last week, we talked about the rising hatred or should I just call it 5G-Phobia whereby numerous conspiracy theorists have flooded the internet with lots of anti-5G rhetoric stating it’s relationship with the current Novel Coronavirus pandemic which is ravaging the globe.

This had gotten to the level by which some of these campaigners were advising their followers to go and burn, destroy and attack 5G operators and masts they come across.

The rhetoric came after some related the sudden death of some birds to the 5G frequencies stating it’s too strong and would end humanity if not stopped and some also brought about the COVID-19 disease as government plan to plant chips into people and call it the COVID-19 vaccine.

These rhetoric starts on social media platforms and UK government official had summoned some tech companies – though we don not know who those companies are, there are suggestions they could social media platforms because this is where these conspiracy theorists gather their audience. Facebook being one of the biggest is now fighting back by taking aggressive measures to ensure the decline of such “Complete rubbish” theory.

According to a new report which made us know that Facebook is currently striving hard to curb off this rumors.

Facebook says it has started to remove stories linking coronavirus and 5G – but only if they will cause physical harm.

The site said that it is taking “aggressive steps” to remove such misinformation as part of its response to coronavirus hoaxes and false stories more generally.

But it will only take down those posts that are likely to cause physical harm, rather than any posts that include false claims about a link between phone masts and the COVID-19 outbreak.

Aside hurting people physically, other forms of violence which are already being perpetrated by these people is destroying 5G infrastructures they come across.

Aside that, there were even rumors about cure or treatments, or the location/severity of the outbreak of the COVID-19 and so Facebook do not want any of those on its platform any longer so spreading false information regarding whether or not it was safe to travel or to flout social distancing could see your post get removed.

Aside that, anyone that encourages acts of arson against 5G masts will also get removed from the platform.

With reports about UK Broadband engineers being abused verbally and physically over the weekend gave rise to the new motion to curb the rise of these conspiracies once and for all.

It was also reported that several cities had seen 5G masts and mobile network towers (even ones that don’t provide 5G) target by arson. As our report confirmed, there were also examples of violent threats against NHS patients on coronavirus wards in the UK, like the one below.

Well this might be a good start for social media companies to curb off these propaganda even though little can be done by social media platforms but it’s obviously a good starting point to further stop the rumors.
