Yesterday we posted an article on the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s 3D concept from LetsGoDigital which folds in three ways.
With the first Galaxy Fold being released back in 2019 and then another version in 2020, Samsung is ahead in the foldable smartphone market by far. It’s 3rd generation foldable smartphone is expected to be much more better and feature some well-baked specifications that’ll be worthwhile.
With foldable smartphones likely to take away the limelight from tablets in the nearest future, Samsung seems to be capitalizing on that already as the company’s executive officer stated during the Samsung 2020 Investor Forum that the company will promote the smartphone market from “stock competition” to “incremental competition”.
Li further explained that the new foldable smartphone lineups aren’t just an expansion phones but an entirely new lineup in itself making it known that the company’s future devices will be foldable smartphones.

With better technology at hand, Samsung hope to make the foldable smartphones much better and lighter in the near future. Consider the current Galaxy Z Fold 2 which weighs on average 282 grams while it’s measurement is around 16.9 mm in thickness when folded up.
The size still matter because the much slimmer Microsoft Surface Duo is a very flattened smartphone. Li added that the company is considering portability, design and productivity to its agenda when producing the next-gen foldable smartphones.
The Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) was a big milestone for Samsung this year which was its attempt to bat the plastic covering of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 compared to the plastic face of the first-gen Galaxy Fold.
With the foldable smartphones at the very early stage of development, they’re pretty expensive for real and Samsung has already taken the lead in the industry. Oppo seems to be the other company planning to come up to compete when it released its OPPO X 2021 Concept Smartphone that features a rollable extending display.
