When Samsung announced earlier this year that the New Galaxy Note 8 will be coming, many people were happy while some doubted a more disaster considering the chaos Samsung had to take the previous year with the Galaxy Note 7’s battery. Well, the arrival of the new Galaxy Note 8 really matters alot as it is the main topic of those who love the line.

Although the Galaxy Note 7 wasn’t the only device to explode last year, there were news of other products. And again, many of us thought that Samsung would call off the Note series and probably replace it with some thing new but as we would have it, Note series didn’t go anywhere and Behold the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Beautiful and smaller bezels for it’s 6.3 inch screen is a big deal for those who love it big and it’s massive battery to always keep it alive is a good thinking from Samsung.

The Note 8 is expected to be the replacement or a sort of consoler for those that purchased the exploding Note 7 last year considering the discounted prices which Samsung had laid down for those that bought the older version.

At about $930, there are more awesome gadgets you can buy with that amount but those who have some cash to spare on a giant screen can undoubtedly get one of this.

But wait! What makes the Galaxy Note 8 so special anyway? Well, it’s nothing special it’s just another special edition with some really nice features which we would all expect from a premium phone. Although it’s closest neighbour the Galaxy S8 look quite identical but the size is a real difference.

Design

Curled edges, thinner bezels and absence of physical touchpads all added in makes the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 very good looking. Although it quite looked like it’s predecessor in some aspects (Well, they’re both Galaxy Notes right?) But this premium phone has all it takes to make you wonder.

Concerning it’s looking like the older version, there are numbers of features of designs which are sort of left untouched. The fingerprint scanner’s location and iris tracking sensors all never changed as well.

The slimmer Stylus Pen now come with some cooler features which helps you do what matters most to you in every sense. The now 0.7MM tipped S-Pen can be used in a variety of ways. For example, you can send messages to people with “Live Messages” a feature which allows you to create a text message or visual message in form of drawing which can then be converted into an animated GIF file and be sent over to anyone via E-Mail, Text messages, Social Media and other messaging means. The bar at the top of the message indicates how much jotting time is left before the GIF is completed.

Another thing i found cool is the enhanced Screen off memo functionality which enables you to pin a message directly to the “Always on Display” feature. Each time the screen off memo is created using a Stylus Pen, the phone will keep it displayed on the screen.  This means that you can easily access quick notes or help you remember them quickly.

The EDGE of the screen functionality is still well intact and since Android’s latest version allows Side to Side app multitasking, the Note 8 takes all the advantage to help you manage applications be it launching two applications simultaneously using the edge screen access.  Instead of you launching two different applications, you can now prepare a shortcut that is pinned to the Edge Screen so as to access them immediately.

The truth be told, the new Galaxy Note 8 is a very feature rich smartphone. Considering the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with a stealth 6GB of RAM and a huge 64GB of internal storage, you can expect nothing but a smooth usage of the device if you ever lay your hands on one eventually.

Display

It’s a sort of giant phone just like the old Note 7. It’s just a bit longer than the older version in length. Considering it’s 6.3 Inch display which features a 1440 x 2960 Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display. All that mean a crystal clear screen with solid eye piercing colour experience. Adding to this are the curly sides of the device which looked kinda sexy while held.

Based on the hands on quick-view of the device, it’s display would mean it can accommodate any Ultra HD video quality files especially for those who favour 4K displays.

Samsung for a long time had been doing great at display qualities which is no surprise to me when i examined the features of the new Galaxy Note 8.

Another outstanding thing is how Samsung Managed to fit in the 6.3 inch within the device’s body without wasting excess body parts. Comparing the device’s 83% of screen within the body to the older versions in the Note series.

Camera

This device is packed up with a dual 12 MegaPixel rear cameras. It’s the first smartphone of the Galaxy line that has this feature. This is a very huge advancement or let me say a noticeable external feature over the previous version of the device.

Two 12 MegaPixel cameras that break down into a wide-angle where one  has an aperture of f/1.7 and a telehpoto one at f/2.4.

This isn’t new though as it’s already with other competitive smartphones such as the iPhone 7 Plus or Huawei P10. It’s still something we’d hope for.

The front lens is absolutely great for selfies with a very clear wide-angle shots which do well even in low light environments.

As of the dual camera, the results which is able to achieve a digital zoom of around 10X and the option to produce bokeh through it’s live focus mode.

To determine how better you want your picture’s enhancements to be, the cameras capture both wide-angle and telephotos shots which gives you the option of selecting the focus area and the amount of background blur surrounding it. The process is very fast with few taps and then you’re done.

Also, the cameras features built-in OIS which Samsung brags to be the first of it’s kind. When it comes to image stabilization, the Note 8 does great unlike other competitors like iPhone 7+ for example.

Although this isn’t a total review yet but the comment will be reserved until we go on a full review tour with the amazing device.

Battery

What makes you enjoy tech products is how long you can use it. The Note 8 is no exception. It’s 3500 mAh battery is a very great thing.

Although the battery became a curse on the older version of the device but we hope history never repeats itself in any way.

Although Samsung had guaranteed that this one is a way better thing considering it’s investments on tons of researches, developments, testing and quality assurances that the Note 8 won’t suffer the bad fate of the Note 7 nor would any of their device.

As part of their guarantee measures, Samsung hired a third party company to help validate the Note 8’s 8-point battery check.

That is a good one for doubters to keep their minds at rest and expect the best from the Note 8 this time around.

The Note 8 also features a new rapid charging capacity via a USB Type-C port as well as a new faster wireless charging capacity.

How long it will take the battery to get drained while being heavily used depends on users or should i say we’ve not done any of those reviews yet but will surely bring you a result when we finally get our hands on one for a review.

But all the same, i think you should trust the device and Samsung this time. I sure as hell think nothing can go south this time around.

All in All

As of now, the shipping won’t start until later this year and the pricing is expected to be around $900 which is quite huge and expensive.

But Samsung announced that they would discount the device’s sales price for those that have the Note 7 at around $400+ which is a good thing for the Note fans.

I’m a fan of the device as i love giant screens and well, what is the usefulness of a giant without anything good in it. Samsung always come with a better feature every year when it releases new updates of it’s devices.

The Note 8 for example is going to be a great competitor for the likes of Apple’s iPhone 8 and LG G6 among others.

A long lasting battery is the expectation and if Samsung can make the battery last very long enough despite harsh usage, then this will be a good thing.

Considering my quick view, there isn’t anything as power outage although time spent together was very little compared to when we’ll do an extensive usage review over the device’s battery longevity.

With the new Android Oreo 8.0, i guess it will be a good thing if upgrades can be available on the release of the phone. As well as enabling Bixby to work more well with the end users.

Samsung never disappoints so far this year and we hope Samsung can maintain this for a long time to keep up within the game.
