The Redmi 7 and Note 7 were the first series to get the Android 10 update recently in China and the Redmi 8 will be joining the list in the far Eastern country. The stable Android 10 update for the Redmi 8 comes with the build number MIUI 11.0.1.0 QCNCNXM for Chinese users and the update size is about 2 GB which will give user the latest June 2020 security update and other internal tweaks to the MIUI skin for Android 10 OS. As for the global release, that is expected to be within this month in a matter of weeks or days ahead of the China version release.
The Redmi 8 is a really interesting mid-range smartphone sporting outstanding features which makes it worthy of it’s price point which might vary from region to region depending on the nearness to the market.
Xiaomi didn’t do well in rolling out it’s MIUI update for the year 2020 probably due to the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic which had obviously tuned the entire world economy into a downturn. Although the Chinese tech giant is usually slow in updates, it’s particularly slower this time around which could be saddening to it’s customers around the world who had to wait on the queue while updates are rolled out worldwide.
Take the older Redmi 7, 7A, Note 7 and Note 7 Pro for example, these devices were launched back in early 2019 with the older Android 9 update but up until now, they are just rolling out the Android 10 update on these devices after over a year which obviously confirms the slowness of the company in delivering it’s product’s software updates to it’s users around the world.

Even though the current Redmi 8 are good to go with the recently announced MiUI 12 update, the time frame of that update is yet unknown so you might just have to stick up with your older MIUI 11 when you receive the update and keep up with the news until the next version is released.
To check for update, visiting your Android Settings app and scroll down to the About Phone and Software update to see if you’ve gotten the update just yet or else, you might also get alerted by the company via a pop up on your display when the update is finally released.
