Earlier in October when Huawei announced their up-and-coming device, the Huawei Y9 (2019) edition, I personally was quite interested in this. And voila, we have the new Huawei Y9 2019 which offers a massive display and a whole lot of features especially a premium look and feel all at an affordable price.
Huawei although having had some problems getting their smartphones into the US market this year, the company never relent but kept conquering different parts of the world while offering absolute tech products that are great and affordable.
Another smartphone launched towards the end of this year is Huawei’s owned Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max which has a massive 7.12-inch display.
But let’s talk about the new Huawei Y9 2019 smartphone. This device comes with a notch which wasn’t surprising to me considering the fact that almost all Android smartphones launched this year have notches. Other high-end Huawei smartphones such as the Mate 20 Pro and P20 all have notches. While the notch isn’t a bad thing considering the fact that it’s the new way of premium designs for Smartphone makers this year, it might not really be a bad trend.

DESIGN OF THE HUAWEI Y9 2019:
The new Huawei Y9 2019 comes in a big slate format considering its huge 6.5-inch display. But the company did well to shrink the large display in a small body thanks to its 87% screen-to-body ratio. Its tiny bezels around the screen make it look similar to the premium iPhone XS.
The design of the device is very premium in its entirety. Coming from side to side, the device is made with firm aluminum while the back is made with glossy glass. That won’t be a problem because a case is also shipped on with the device which keeps the design at the back great.
The device comes in 3 color variants; Black, Blue, and Purple. The new Huawei Y9 2019 also looks and feels like its sister, the Honor 8X which looked nearly similar except for some differences which might not be noticeable especially when both devices are facing you.
On the right side of the device, there is the volume button and the power button below those. The left side houses the sim and memory card tray which can be slid out from the inside out of the device. The device maintains the 3.5MM headphone jack port right beside the micro USB charging port while the speaker sits at the last side of the device.
The back of the device houses its dual AI-powered cameras and fingerprint touch. The device’s back is made with beautiful glossy 2.5D glass which prevents the device from dust and water (not certified waterproof).
At the front of the Y9 2019 are the two cameras beside the earpiece of the device which cuts out the screen to create a notched display. The device’s 6.5-inch display is massive and brightened to the fullest.
SOFTWARE OF THE HUAWEI Y9 2019
The Huawei Y9 2019 is powered by the Android Oreo 8.1 and it runs on the HiSilicon Kirin 710, 64-bit Processor made by Huawei. It makes the device fast and works great even while being used to perform rigorous tasks like playing high-resolution videos with the display in full HD and volume turned to the max.
Switching between applications is fast and great so nothing like a lag as far as that is concerned. The device also has 4 GB RAM and a 64GM ROM making it process data as fast as it can. There is still room to expand this to as huge as 400 GB with a micro SD Card.
Although we’ve not reviewed the Huawei Y9 2019 yet, this is a quick hand overview of the device where we got a quick glimpse of the device’s power and vulnerabilities. Although we hope to publish a well-detailed review of the device in the coming weeks.
THE CAMERAS
There are 4 cameras all powered with AI making them shoot better in different scenes and locations. Recording high-quality videos are possible with the device’s camera considering its 1920 x1080 recording capacity. Though doesn’t support 4K resolution.
There are different shooting modes present in the camera settings to produce high-quality photo results. Also, the device camera can be used in the night mode which enhances the night quality of the device’s camera. While shooting in autofocus, there is a great response from the device and this makes it a really great value considering its price.
There is no flash at the front of the device. Having a flash would have been a great addition because of shooting in low-light areas. But altogether, the camera still worked well and was great. But until I take the device for a full-blown tour and review it to see how far it can go, I will reserve my comment
