Yesterday, Honor announced the launch of the Honor X10 Max along with the Honor 30 Youth or Lite which both featured the latest MediaTek Dimensity chipset onboad. The Honor X10 Max this time around would be another giant smartphone from the company since the release of the Honor 8X Max back in 2018 or the Huawei Mate 20X 5G released in 2019.

The smartphone has a great 7.09-inch display which is great to binge consume media content be it gaming or video. The display as we’ve once reported featured the so-called RBG-W Full-HD+ IPS LCD screen whose white color is natural unlike other screens that come with the plain RGB display.

Speaking of the immersive display, it has nearly the same specifications just as the earlier released Honor X10 that was announced back in May. The design of the device itself is just like an enlarged version of the latter which includes the same slightly-curved back with the rectangular rear camera module.

The selfie camera this time around is housed within a waterdrop notch unlike the X10 that featured a pop-up front facing selfie camera. The retaining of the 3.5mm headphone jack is also another good news for wired headphone lovers as it also houses it’s fingerprint scanner right at the side of the device which can also function as the power button of the phone.

In terms of measurement, the Honor X10 Max is about 174.37 x 37 x 84.91 x 8.3mm while it weighs 227 grams which makes it fit despite the large size. While it’s definitely not going to fit right well into one hand especially for those with small hands, the weight means it can still fit right well into your bag or purse.

While Honor had managed to shrink down the side bezels in order to accommodate the large screen size, the Huawei Mate 20X for example has a slightly bigger screen of 7.2-inch display with a slightly bigger chin while the Honor 8X Max in 2018 also has a big chin which has the branding of the company boldly written on it.

The much more accurate specifications of the display is 7.09-inch LCD sceen with 1080P resolution as well as support for 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and HDR10 while it’s brightness peaks 780 nits which is definitely a good news as well.

As mentioned earlier, the RGBW (Red, Blue, Green and White) panel makes up for the white subpixels which is meant to help reduce power consumption of the panel when white color is being displayed. While traditional RGB screen usually have to generate the entirety of the display color from these three color configuration, the inclusion of the W on the Honor X10 Max means the device can display a much more brighter white color under direct sunlight coupled with the large display, it’s definitely a great display for an LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution and gaming here will be a great experience as well.

One drawback to the monstrous display is that it only holds the standard 60Hz refresh rate compared to the Honor 30 Youth which has 90Hz refresh rate probably due to the smaller size of the latter which is only 6.5-inch unlike the X10 Max with 7.09-inch screen.

Honor X10 Max Hardware specifications

The Dimensity 800 chipset powers up the Honor X10 Max combined with A 6GB of RAM or 8GB of RAM for the high-end model while the storage space is about 128GB and that’s where it ends because there isn’t a 256GB option but in fact, the 128GB is well enough depending on what you’re trying to do anyway.

Speaking of the camera module, the Honor X10 Max has a large 48MP primary sensor along with another 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor while the front-facing selfie camera housed right within the water-drop notch is an 8MP sensor.

With the large display come a big battery as well. Under the hood is a 5000mAh Li-Po battery which fast charges at 22.5W which is more than the Honor X10’s 4,300mAh Li-Po battery.

The Honor X10 Max also features dual 1217 linear stereo speakers with smart PA for amplifying its sound. The phone also supports Huawei Histen 6.1 sound. Other interesting features include 802.11 ca Wi-Fi, AGPS, Glonass, Beidou, and NFC.

The Price & Availability

The newly announced Honor X10 Max comes in three color options which includes Racing Blue, Black and Silver and the variation’s pricing differs as seen below

• 6GB + 64GB – ¥1899 (~$269)
• 6GB + 128GB – ¥2099 (~$297)
• 8GB + 128GB – ¥2499 (~$354)

The Honor X10 Max will go on sale on July 3 across all major retailers in China but the global availability of the device is yet unknown and since Huawei had been battling the US government, it’s evident the company had focused much more on it’s local market which has the largest smartphone users in the world so why not.
