Google has reportedly commenced an official rollout of its Pixel 6 series’ latest software update after it was delayed back in December. The tech giant formerly paused the release of the OTA due to reports that the new update was causing calls to drop and disconnect abruptly.

The issue was such that Google took the nearly unprecedented move of removing the associated factory images for that update from its developer website.

Then in December, the company announced that the software would arrive sometime in late January but then pushed the timeline again to this week’s Jan. 14th.

“The update will be available for all devices over the following week, but exact timing may vary depending on your carrier and country,” the company said.

Some carriers have announced that they’ll start pushing out the software update by early next week. A good example of such is a popular Canadian carrier Fido which noted on its site that its targeting Jan. 17th for the commencement of its rollout.

With the new update comes fixes that Google had planned to release since December as well as other new features to aid the performance of the Pixel 6 smartphones.

One of the tweaks include a fix for an issue that had caused the Pixel 6 series to drop connection to a WiFi network in certain situations.

The new update also addresses a bug that had caused the phones to drain their batteries faster than expected.
