It isn’t Elon Musk’s rocket that’s getting love these days, even the quite weird-looking Blue Origin’s New Shepherd rocket has some big fans too and that is why a model is up for sale at about US$70 – not the price you’d expect for a rocket, right? Except you’re thinking about buying something that looks like the rocket from the Adult section of Amazon of course.
It’s a toy rocket to be sincere and it’s able to fly to about 400 feet and is able to deploy its own parachute at the height of its flight and then float back to the surface – how cool is that?
With this replica rocket, you can literally mimic Jeff Bezos’ trip to the edge of space back on July 20th. This toy replica is just that of the rocket and doesn’t consist of the former Amazon CEO himself onboard.
“Like the Blue Origin New Shepard,” the listing reads, “you can fly the Estes New Shepard again and again.”
It’s currently being sold for about US$70 but you’ll still need to spend a few extra bucks on other stuff like its launchpad which will cost you about US$30, engines US$48 for a bulk pack, starters US$6, recovery wadding US$5.49, and batteries with the total price point nearing US$150.
Well compared to the price you’ll have to pay in order to board any future crewed tourist trip to the edge of space, you’re definitely getting a nice bargain on this one.
