Unlike the Infinix note 2, when i first laid my hands on the new Infinix Note 3, i kind of liked it considering it’s newer design although it still looked quite like the older version but at least in a better way.

The rare part of the smartphone had been redesigned because of the presence of a Fingerprint scanner which wasn’t present in the previous version or even the Infinix’s high-end Zero 3.

There were so many things to look forward to when it comes to the new phone since it’s a newer version of the Note series. Apart from it’s battery, the operating system is well packaged with some Infinix’s property applications which are way to make the phone perform better.

Running on Android Marshmallows and XOS Chameleon which is actually the derivative of the remodelled Android 6.0, the Infinix Note 3 is quite okay for those expecting a cheap phone that can perform in a tough situation.

Infinix partnered with Jumia and MTN to launch the phone in Lagos, Nigeria and this will give users the advantage of getting 100% bonus to every data plan they purchase for 6 months.

That was stick to the side of the phone’s casing.  Well, my first contact with the phone was positive from the onset. The earpiece, the Charger’s adapter and the USB 3.0 Cable alongside the SIM & SD Card tray opener pin and some tiny booklet manual. The screen guard is also present so anyone buying won’t need to purchase any of those.

I didn’t conclude immediately that the Infinix Note 3 would simply be the winner in my personal preference considering other phones that they’re both in the league.

But you know what, Infinix Note 3 did quite well. Okay let’s not mention the fact that it is powered by an amazing 4500mAH Li-Ion battery.

We can also consider other factors such as it’s fast charging capacities which aren’t employed by other manufacturers of low-end phones like Gionee, InnJoo and Tecno.

Spending a week with the phone made me to give it a positive thumb up because i tried to depend on it throughout those periods trying to understand if the brag about 5Min charge 200Min talk time and other features like the Aerospace Cooling Technology ACT which is said to be the so-called technology made to cool down the heating up of the smartphone.

Charging is supposed to be 1 hour plus according to Infinix but it was 2 hours thirty-something minutes before it was full. Apart from that, the 2GB RAM space is cool especially when you’re not doing too much. I took varieties of images in low light and outside but saw a massive difference. Unlike phones like Samsung’s Galaxy S7 , the smartphone doesn’t shoot well in low light but nice at least in more open environments.

I was able to note down lots of things which are well written down here. Since it’s launch, it’s been a quite common phone used by Nigerians, Pakistanis, Indians, Kenyans, Ghanaians and other territories the Infinix mobile company had chosen to target although there isn’t a good statistics to learn about the number sales or shipping, some people still bought the ideas of the phone eventhough. But before we continue, it’s worth knowing somethings about the manufacturer itself.

Infinix Note 3 Review

So what is Infinix mobile anyway?

Infinix is a chinese company that manufacturers low to middle-end smartphones. Although the company is quite new in the Android manufacturing sphere, the company is quite an older one.

They make and sell their products to third world countries and other developing countries in south Asia.

Being a good manufacturer in the mid-end maker, Infinix had been a prominent player in the mobile market of those countries it had chosen to market it’s product to although constantly faced with competitors such as…

All these brands all have a significant share in the mobile market in the entire world but their impacts on regions and countries vary exponentially.

As Infinix stands, the brand’s Hot series are the most popular of all their brands as it’s more cheaper compare to the likes of the Note Series and Zero Series.

But still, Infinix still come out every year with amazing products that are better than the previous which had helped the company to build a bigger and loyal audience within their niche market.

Now end of the story and back to the main review. Like i said earlier, i took note of everything i noticed with the smartphone starting from it’s battery down to it’s software and design, durability and it’s pricing.

Battery is 4500mAH which is good enough

The infinix Note 3’s battery is a very powerful one. Note like extremely powerful like Gionee Elife 5 but it’s quite powerful considering it’s capacity of 4500mAH Li-Ion. While conducting the Infinix note 3 review, I did enjoyed the battery to some extent.

But even though i had to use the phone for 6 to 7 hours before i was forced to plug it back to power supply because it was drained and i was like “So soon?” But don’t blame the Phone because i used the Infinix Note 3 to stream videos on Youtube for 4 hours under 3G network.

Also, background data were running especially i chose about 10 big applications from Google Play store to install.

After which i switched onto the camer and i became an instant photographer taking some amazing photograph but it was in an open light filled environment and not indoor.

Like i said earlier, the phone’s camera doesn’t do well in low light or indoor. The powerful dual flash were a good deal after using for couple of minutes, it was as hot as hell though cooled off after turning it off. The battery area wasn’t totally hot but it was warm.

I played Dream League 2016 on the phone after i had completely installed my applications from Google Play Store. I was bored up later on so i switched on to Google Chrome and started reading my friend’s Facebook timelines. The battery was drained and a warning to switch to ultra-mode was up.

This mode turns off every background data usage and then displays only useful applications. But then, i had to plug it back to electricity. The USB 3.0 that powers the device is a good choice as it enables the fast charging technology. I tried some generic USB and charger but the “X-CHARGE” never worked.

But all in all, the battery was quite good or let me say will be good for the average user which might be extended to like 10 hours considering it’s large screen. But for those who uses their phone like it’s a computer, the expectation might be a little bit disappointing. And did i forget to say you can’t use an extra battery because all is inbuilt.

Infinix Note 3 is a very huge smartphone

Considering it’s 6.0 inch screen size, the smartphone is a very huge one. The redesign makes it look more decent from it’s predecessor. It now power a Fingerprint scanner behind it right below the flash and the camera. The camera too is powered with a 13MP rear camera with dual flash. The front facing camera is 5MP with a lower powered flash also.

From the front of the device, there are no physical button or any touch pad. The device utilises an inbuilt on-screen button as seen on other Android smartphones. It’s dimension is ( DIMENSION GOES HERE ) which is quite a huge smartphone that might not fit into small hands. The screen features a 1080 Pixel and a 367 PPI resolution.

Above the screen are other components such as it’s sensor, front facing camera, flash, the earpiece and the LED. Above the device is the earphone’s jack while it’s three physical buttons are located by the right side of the phone. The Power, the two volume buttons which are separated unlike the Infinix Note 2 where the two volume buttons are co-joined. Also beside the device are the dual-SIMs and the SD-Card Slots.

Below is the USB jack and the speaker area which looked like those of iPhone 6 just that the speaker is only present on the right bottom side of the device.

The battery isn’t replaceable so the back of the device is well sealed off so it can’t be opened. It uses a Gorilla glass 3 which is quite strong enough eventhough i never tried letting the smartphone slip out of my hands. It still comes with a screenguide which might do lots of help especially if cased.

It’s back is made with aluminium which makes the phone to be heavy unlike Zero 3 which is very light and easy to carry anywhere.

My overall view about the device’s physical attribute is that it looked very awesome and it’s cool but my turn off is the weight and the heat generated by the aluminium.

I mean if Infinix were smart enough, aren’t they supposed to use plastic considering the ACT they claimed to have built within the device? Well, they have already made this one but let’s pray the next version is way better.

The XOS Chameleon is a customized version of Android Marshmallows 6.0

All these applications are very great ones. Like the X-Cloud gives you access to the Infinix Cloud server just in case you want to backup your files for a later recovery. It works just like the Google Drive or Dropbox just that this is an integrated application that is native to the device.

Another X-app that i love is the X-Hide which is very cool too. You can hide applications in it and then still hide the app itself within the phone. It’s a very good security measure whereby your hidden files are well encrypted within the phone. The Phone also has other X-Apps which all add up to the functionalities of the device.

Powering it’s speed is a 2GB RAM and it’s ROM is 16GB much like the Previous version though there is a variant called the Infinix Note 3 Plus which has a 3GB RAM but still retains the 16GB ROM. It’s CPU is an 1.3GHz ARM Octa-Core processor meaning it’s fast within it’s own range.

As an Android smartphone, there are Google’s applications too within the device like the G-Mail, Google Chrome,  G-Map. Lest i forget, the X-Weather uses AcuWeather API to function that means if you already use one, then this won’t be new.

Like i said earlier on while streaming videos, and still running other multitasks behind the screen, the RAM/Processors proved to be quite okay because they all added up to the speed. I was able to navigate from one screen to the other easily without an application closing for the other just like the cases with iTel smartphones which are quite lower-end compared to Infinix.

I was able to download applications fast and installation processes were fast. Even playing games such as Dream League 2016 or FL Commando were very fast.

I tried Mortal Kombat X too and it was okay there were minimal stutters which weren’t from the phone but the server side in some cases.

I guess the phone can take on big applications in number considering it’s expandable memory space which can be up to 128GB.

Infinix Note 3 might not measure up to Samsung Galaxy Note 7 which caught lots of inferno but it is still great enough considering it’s purpose. So if you won’t expect too much from the features, then you can depend on the device but when your expectations are too high, then you might want to step up your budget.

The camera did well but not very well

I mean this is just an infinix Note 3 right but that’s no excuse. 13MP in a Samsung Galaxy would do better but well, this is Infinix. When you’re outside especially during the day, the camera is dope.

When you’re indoor with low light, the camera is dull. Although Infinix’s Blue glass a technology which allows the camera to face direct light and still capture good images is true when i tried it on but that wasn’t the case without flash or general solar brightness.

The front camera for selfie is good and i usually prefer it. I tried it in many instances and i saw it was okay. For example, during my tour with the phone, i was able to use Skype ones with a colleague and we could see ourselves well. I mean the 5MP isn’t bad at all.

It’s also powered with it’s own flashlight which is all good.

I don’t have many negative thoughts about the camera but i think for the average person it’s okay. Now if you chose to record videos with the camera especially with a tripod, that can  be very possible.

You can record events or if you’re a YouTuber, that’s a little price caught for you rather than going after expensive cameras.

Note that this camera can’t capture 4K which is sort of a new trend which the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7 already boast of. All in all, the camera is above average.

I don’t think this phone is bad at all.

With my take on the smartphone, i think the Infinix Note 3 would be a really great phone especially for the developing countries. As per the price, the device is sold for ₦52,000. With a year warranty all depending on the market and location, the device shouldn’t range far beyond that price.

Despite my grip of the phone, i notice it’s elegance. It was sort of big and sexy. This would be a nice gift for your loved ones especially those that love it big.

It’s overall functionalities are good and the battery isn’t a disappointment. Getting the parts of the device when you damage it can be a bit of problem considering Infinix’s newness. But parts such as the screenguard, the earphone or the USB and Adapter can be gotten from phone vendors all at a price though.

And if you’re a traveller, this phone can be your real companion so far you charge it before setting out, then you’re going to enjoy the journey.

It’s all cool and sexy and i love it personally considering it’s pricing. The device is even upgradeable to Android Nougat 7.0 if you want.

The Infinix’s firmware will also come packaged together with the device. The X-Club is where you can meet with other Infinix device users to share and solve similar problems. It’s a very good idea.

The X-Cloud too is another nice tool which are all covered within your ₦52K. It’s surely a good buy believe me.
