Xiaomi never stops to impress us as the company has taken another step to up its game in the smartphone market this year. There was a recent Patent published by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) for two new smartphones from Xiaomi.
And as usual, Netizens will create a render of it. This time it was LetsGoDigital that took the matter into their hands creating a look-alike based upon the patent filed by the company.
The patent states two devices which are both dual-sided smartphones with their screens wrapped all around them in different directions.
The first phone has it’s screen wrapped entirely throughout the device’s body which I suggest to be the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha concept which was presented last year. But there is an obvious difference between the Mi Mix Alpha concept and the patented device because the latter only has it’s screen wrapped around the device from one side making it seem like the Huawei Mate X when it’s closed/folded.

But as for the second patented smartphone, the display wrapping follows a different direction. The display actually wraps up and around the top horizontal edge of the device. while the back of the device has a hole-punch cut-out for dual-camera setup.
What’s even more interesting is the absence of a front-facing camera on both devices. So it’s the same camera you use at the back that serves as the selfie camera as well because the back is also a screen so you’re everywhere.
Based on the patent write-ups, both models have no physical buttons attached to them. Considering how Huawei was able to create a great haptic feedback on the Mate 30 Pro, that could be the same with the new smartphone as well.
Even though this is a design concept, the innovative measures smartphone makers has taken to challenge the form factors of modern smartphones is really interesting and awesome.
Imagine if this device could make it to the market next year and with the design which is really interesting, it’s going to make a big impact on the part of Xiaomi as wanting to be a pioneer of modern smartphone design rather than just copying other company’s innovation.
