For those of you anticipating about the release of the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones, the end to that might be coming pretty soon as the company announced dates for the release of the phones.
The Live global launch of the OnePlus 8 series is scheduled to take place on YouTube April 14th, 3PM UTC. This was made known via a post on Weibo where OnePlus announced the device will be debuting in China on the 16th of the same month. Understandably, with another live online event. This one scheduled for 7PM local time.
A new addition to the line is the “OnePlus 8 Lite” which is said to come on as the OnePlus Z moniker but might not be released along with the flagship siblings.
While the exact time that model will be released isn’t really known, it’s likely the launch will take place during the Chinese version debut all which will take place online.

We do, however, have teasers, suggesting the global April 14 event will see the OnePlus TV 55 Q1 Pro’s international market release.
According to rumors, the 8th generation of the OnePlus flagship will come with a moderate 6.55-inch FullHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a 90Hz of refresh rate for the base model while the “Pro” model will get a bigger bump in aspects such as the larger 6.78-inch QHD+ display and then a 120Hz refresh rate.
As for the latest insider scoop on the camera department, the OnePlus 8 Pro will use the Sony IMX689 48MP, f/1.78 sensor for its main snapper which we’ve seen on the Oppo Find X2 Pro. Alongside it will be Sony IMX586, 48MP f/2.2 ultrawide unit and an 8MP f/2.44 telephoto camera.
Again, both OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are expected to ship with the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G support while the storage will range with an 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage or just 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
As for the power department, the device is expected to ship with a 4,300 mAh and 4,510 mAh batteries respectively and have the OnePlus 30W Warp Charge technology which will super boost the device’s power top-up.
The Pro could also feature wireless and reverse wireless charging, although, rumors have been a mixed bag on that front. Same goes for official IP68 ingress protection rating.
More news about the device isn’t entirely clear but we’ll definitely bring you much more news stories concerning the OnePlus 8 series when it’s finally released in the coming month.
