One of the latest is that Samsung will release the Galaxy S21 Series as early as January 14th 2021 which is much more earlier than the usual time the South Korean giant releases its smartphones but whatever reason they have for taking this step it’s definitely for some good reasons.

But there have been a whole lot of rumors in the news lately about what to expect by the time the device will be released and those includes the design, the number of cameras and in fact the pricing which many stated would be cheaper than the current one in the market.

While that might be a good news, there is definitely going to be some compromise with that and that will come with the design elements or the materials used to make the device. For example, according to a report from AndroidCentral, the base-model, the Galaxy S21 is expected to sport a plastic back much like the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition released this year.

The move towards plastic seems to be the trend for Samsung especially with their mid-range devices which I actually do not find to being a bad idea for real because of the quality of the materials used. Take the new Google Pixel 5 as an example despite the fact that Google sort of double-down from competing in the US$1K smartphone arenas, it made the device with a combination of metal and plastic which was really durable. A tear-down video made by JerryRigEverything on YouTube proved this.

But even with that, Samsung will definitely release this device with some expensive components such as the next-gen Snapdragon 888 chipset which is said to be a high-performance processor with 5G network modem baked within it.

And again, we have OLED displays which is something Samsung i well known for and that could bump up the pricing of the device to at least US$499 or US$599 which ultimately still places the device in the mid-range arena.

But then there are the other two high-end models such as the Galaxy S21 Plus and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The S21 Ultra is definitely going to be the peak featuring everything about the S-Series for the year 2021 all packed up.

The most amazing news was that Samsung could include support for the S-Pen stylus which is exclusive to just the Galaxy Note series since inception. Another rumor proving Samsung could just ditch the Note series once and for all. I’d say they probably should have back in 2017 when the device was catching fire.

In terms of design, I’m expecting to see almost the same design similarities of the S20 series – the hole-punch single camera unit and a flat display but another rumor has it that Samsung might be bringing back the curved OLED display again but at least not on all the S21 series. Probably on the high-end models.

While the flat display is really good, so far the curved-display isn’t the extreme design such as the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Mate 40 Pro smartphones which the Chinese tech giant calls “The Horizon” display but many of us refer to it as a “Waterfall display” because of the extreme curvature of the edges of the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra could sport five rear camera setup with the primary sensor being a 108 megapixel which to many is a great deal. There should also be telephoto lens, ultra-wide and ToF sensor as well after all, the real estate should take it all.

And lastly, the Galaxy S21 series are expected to come with the next-gen Android 11 operating system put of the box. But while all these are basically rumors of the device, the 14th of January will be the best time to see what’s up with the official release.
