Twitter had announced that a number of accounts were hacked during the cyber attack this week which had accounts of some high personality from big companies hacked up.
The hacker were able to access Twitter’s internal system in order to hijack some of the platform’s prominent users including accounts of for US President Barack Obama and the presidential candidate Joe Biden, Kim Kardashian, Elon Musk and others.
According to Twitter, the cyber attackers were able to gain control of a small subset of the the targeted accounts and then began sending tweets from there. Also the company made it known it was continuing to assess whether the attackers were able to access private data of the targeted accounts or not.
Other high profile users whose accounts were hacked out includes those of rapper Kanye West, Amazon’s boss Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and other corporate accounts belonging to Apple and Uber.

But the social media platform said it’s working in hand with the affected users while a team of FBI in San Francisco is said to be leading an inquiry into the hacking while lawmakers are also asking the company to account for how the incident happened.
It was further revealed that the cyber attackers committed cryptocurrency fraud in the incident whereby publicly available blockchain records show the apparent scammers received more than US$100,000 worth of cryptocurrency.
“We’re still in the process of assessing longer-term steps that we may take and will share more details as soon as we can,” Twitter added in its statement.
