Last year, Xiaomi changed everything with the release of the Mi Note 10 (CCP Pro) which had a massive 108 Megapixels sensor and then Samsung did the same with the release of the Galaxy S20 Ultra which has the same 108MP sensor.
A new report has it that Qualcomm, the company that makes the Snapdragon chipset is on the move again to create a processor that supports even a much bigger 192 Megapixels and it’s even possible to be launched next month according to a recent tip from a reputable leakster.
48 Megapixels now seems to be the norm with even mid-range smartphones having them while the pushy sensors includes 64MP and the now going-mainstream 108MP sensors. And while the 192MP might seem so big, this is technology where everything is possible considering the speed at which stuffs are being implemented so do not be surprised when you see a smartphone sporting this huge pixels next month.

The news about this leak came from the leakster Weibo’s page which also added another detail which is was the number of the chipset SM7250.

This is a model number for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 series. In other words, a Snapdragon 765 SoC series handset will sport a 192 megapixels sensor that will place the giant camera on a mid-range smartphone possibly as we saw it on the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Unfortunately, this brings the viability of the device into question.
While the Snapdragon 765 can indeed support a 192 megapixels camera, it can only support snapshots. Meaning, other crucial features like HDR or multi-frame processing will not be possible at that high resolution. So, it remains to be seen just how well they optimize the sensor for the smartphone.
Anyway, this is just a rumor and a tip and not very much information has been shared about the said chipset just yet. The OEM that might be implementing this chipset isn’t even yet known or mentioned so until more news are released, we might not have to take this too serious.
