VoWiFi that offers high quality features such as calling from user to users in a select circle is now being offered by Airtel, one of India biggest carrier but the bottleneck to this new development is that not all smartphones are compatible with this kind of feature whereby you can make WiFi calls.

As at the start of the service offering, only about 24 smartphones were said to be supported by this feature but Xiaomi had decided to jump on this opportunity by adding the VoWiFi calling support on three of it’s key smartphones.

Xiaomi which which is also a big competitor of the likes of Oppo and Honor and Huawei in the Indian smartphone market had announced that the newly released Redmi K20 as well as the K20 Pro and then the Poco F1 smartphone will now have the VoWiFi calling support.

So assuming you are living in India and using any of the aforementioned Xiaomi smartphone as well as Airtel, then this feature should be available on your device maybe when tried tomorrow.

Meanwhile you should note that you need the latest MIUI 11 update for the VoWiFi to work because the feature comes with the latest Android skin. So head over to your smartphone settings and then check for update assuming you haven’t made the update to the latest MIUI 11 yet.

Users will then have to enable the support for VoWiFi calls from the Settings menu. Once the VoLTE is enabled on the smartphone, you need to go to SIM Card & Networks and look for Airtel SIM and then head over to Make Calls using Wi-Fi and turn it ON.

And in order to be able to utilize the VoWiFi feature, you’ll need your Airtel broadband network in place and then connect which can then allow your smartphone to make call as your smartphone will latch on to the broadband network to conduct the call. So in short, a supported Xiaomi smartphone, Airtel SIM card and the Airtel BroadBand network in your locale is all you need to utilize the VoWiFi.
