When Huawei lost it’s partnership with Google due to bans and restrictions by the US Government which had landed the company on the entity list, the company had since focused on building it’s own ecosystem initially thought of to being based on its Harmony OS which the company had reportedly built from scratch and is currently being run on a number of its smart TVs, the company announced it wasn’t done with Android yet as the company had built it’s own App store called the App Gallery which is expected to replace the Google Play store.

The Huawei Mobile Service as well was built to counter the absence of the Google Mobile service and now, the company is further pushing the HMS which is built on top of the Stock Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and tweaking it to further work better with its devices in a more integrated way something which Apple excels in since Apple makes everything ranging from it’s chipset to the operating system and the device hardware itself, it’s easy for the company to create a software that utilizes every aspect of the hardware built to accompany it.

With a lot of financial resources at hand, Huawei had been pushing to bring in more developers to submit their applications on it’s App Gallery which has now seen a surge in numbers which is reportedly over 1.5 million developers registering on the company’s ecosystem.

This makes sense because Huawei makes really awesome smartphones with really powerful chipsets it owns, the HiSilicon Kirin. Being able to have an operating system to itself in which the company boasts of millions of device sales worldwide especially as being the dominant in China makes sense to developers who wants to tap out of that wealth of market as well.

Huawei

Initially, the company did set up a massive fund to incentivize various app developers around the world in order to also submit their applications on it’s App Gallery and because the app store isn’t big just yet compared to the Google Play store with millions of Applications, Huawei needed to strategize even further as popular services in most parts of the world were lacking on it’s platform.

But Huawei might be facing a newer phase whereby the HMS is going to benefit the company even further with the numerous registration of app developers which according to Huawei Consumer Business Cloud Services Vice President, Tan Donghui, the HMS is showing a lot of promise with rising numbers.

And as of now, there are currently about 650 million monthly active users across the globe who uses the Huawei Mobile Service which had been deployed along with updates to those devices which runs it’s proprietary EMUI Skin built on top of the Android operating system.

With the number, that got Huawei a 25% increase and with the 1.5 million registration of app developers on the company’s App store showed a 115% over 2019. There are currently about 60,000 applications on the HMS core which is also a significant 66.7% increase in it’s growth. But things seems to be turning out well for the company with it’s wealth of resources and huge market.
