After a lot of deliberation last year, the US Commerce Department gave Huawei a temporal license to work with American companies for a set period of time but that is officially over now according to the Washington Post which stated that the exceptions had expired on August 13th which makes it illegal now for Google and other software companies in America to send updates to Huawei and it’s customers.

That had somehow made the likes of the Huawei P30 series for example which could still receive Android updates to be done with officially. So do not expect to get the next coming Android 11 if you’re using the device or you use other Huawei’s sub-brand devices such as the Honor View 20, Honor 20 Pro etc.

A Google spokesperson further made it known to the Washington Post that the temporal license was key to delivering Android updates officially to Huawei devices while other Huawei devices released later on last year and early this year such as the P40 series and Mate 30 series do not come bundled with the Google Play Service so it’s Huawei’s responsibility to keep those up to date through it’s EMUI software.

The initial intention of the temporary license was to help rural carriers phase out their dependence on Chinese networking equipment due to the fear of surveillance so as to easily migrate their hardware with ease.

The sanctions on Huawei will affect the company seriously moving forward to the coming year. First, the sanctions on the company will affect the production of the Chinese company’s Kirin chipset until the company is able to look for a more effective supplier.

With that, this will affect how well the company can manufacture new flagship devices but despite not being in any financial trouble just yet, the company’s mobile line might be heading towards a downturn.
