At least that’s the good news we heard about the release of the Huawei P50 series after waiting forever. According to the latest report from the Chinese company’s Consumer Business CEO Yu Richard on Weibo, he made it known that the device will sport a pioneering mobile imaging technology.

To no one surprise, Huawei is known for always pushing the boundaries with each new release and that is going to be the case with the P50 series even though the downside of the release is still the absence of Google Play service or maybe Huawei will finally switch to its own in-house operating system Harmony OS.

The release of the device will take place at 7:30 PM (local time) on July 29th according to the company’s statement via Weibo.

This will definitely be good news to Huawei fans who have been waiting since March to get their hands on the next-gen P series which will reportedly be equipped with a custom-made Sony IMX80 camera sensor which will be the first 1-inch mobile camera sensor with 50MP resolution and RYYB color filter.

The device will also come in three models as P50, P50, and P50 Pro+ with the two high-end devices sporting the Sony IMX800 lens.

In terms of the camera system, leaks have it that the base model of the trio will come with a triple rear camera setup which includes a Sony IMX707 camera, Sony IMX606, and then a 3x telephoto camera while the high-end Pro model will come with four camera setup which includes the Sony IMX800 and then an OV64A OmniVision camera, a 5x periscope camera and a ToF/new sensor.

Both the P50 and P50 Pro are expected to debut on July 29th while there might be a slight delay in the release of the P50 Pro+. In terms of their CPU, the device will likely use the Kirin 9000 chipset and will only support 4G connectivity for the China-only variant while the international variants are expected to feature the Snapdragon 888 chipset.

The 5G variants are expected to arrive in the near future but we don’t know when exactly. But the device will definitely be another cool camera phone because that’s what the Huawei P series are always targeted at.

Other things we may see include an OLED panel and the horizon “waterfall” display which is basically an ultra-curved screen that wraps around the device’s side.
