Previously we reported about Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei’s optimism that the Chinese smartphone maker despite facing some serious situation with the US government will survive, he has also added that he’ll like both the US government and his company to reset their relationship.

Ren made this known when he as addressing the international media in China for the very first time since Joe Biden’s taken office from Trump who’s always seen as the biggest enemy of Huawei.

According to reports, Ren wans to speak with Joe Biden and wish that the new administration will have an “open policy” which can help the company thrive and gain back its lost markets.

“I would welcome such phone calls and the message is around joint development and shared success,” Ren said in officially interpreted comments reported by CNBC, AFP, and the South China Morning Post. “The US wants to have economic growth and China wants to have economic growth as well.”

“If Huawei’s production capacity can be expanded, that would mean more opportunities for US companies to supply too,” Ren continued. “I believe that’s going to be mutually beneficial. I believe that (the) new administration would bear in mind such business interests as they are about to decide their new policy. We still hope that we can buy large volumes of American materials, components and equipment so that we can all benefit from China’s growth.”

Since the 2019 ban, Huawei was banned from working with US-based companies as well as banned from using any US technology which kind of terminated the company’s relationship with some big names in the smartphone market as well as installation of its 5G infrastructures being pulled back.

That news has led to the sales of Honor, Huaweis sub brand late 2020 and there’s been further rumor that Huawei might in fact sell its mobile phone division as well but Ren has strongly opposed such rumors.

“We have decided we absolutely will not sell off our consumer devices, our smartphone business,” he said.

Ren also reportedly called the iPhone 12 “the world’s best smartphone” and said that it helped make the case for Huawei’s 5G networks. “High-end customers in Europe love Apple,” he said. “Since [Huawei] doesn’t have premium handsets any more, Apple’s phones have helped us prove that Huawei’s 5G technology is good.”

The Chinese tech firm has had it really hard since 2019 after it could no longer work with Google leading to the development of its own operating system and its own mobile service in place of Google Mobile Service and all.

The company’s share in the smartphone market has plumed down from its first position ahead of other bigger brands like Samsung and Apple down to the sixth according to smartphone market analysts.
