Sometimes ago, we published an official list of smartphones that will run the latest EMUI 10 update among which is the Honor Play but there seems to have been a new development which excludes the gaming smartphone from the list.
The Honor Play being the first smartphone to come with a GPU Turbo technology that is set to enhance gaming experience on Honor and Huawei smartphones was launched last year and the reception was very great making it’s way all through the world and the US.

Then there was a newer Honor Play 3 which was launched last month but not with flagship processor instead, the old mid-range Kirin 710 Processor that doesn’t measure up to the Kirin 970 which the older Honor Play had. It’s as if Huawei doesn’t care about our favorite smartphone anymore.
To make the matters worst, the Honor India official twitter handle had given reasons that shows that the 2018 model of the Honor Play will not be receiving the Android 10 with the EMUI 10.

This came after a twitter user (@Vivesabbani) asked the Honor India official if the Honor Play will be receiving the EMUI 10 soon, but the official account replied that this will not be available on the Honor Play due to hardware limitation and other specification constraints.
Reading such response was really surprising because the Honor Play has the same CPU just as the Huawei P20 Pro as well as the Honor 10 which have both been confirmed to receive the EMUI 10. Even older Honor V10/View 10 which was released December 2017 will get the EMUI 10.
The reason for such a harsh decision is yet unknown and this had caused a lot of displeasure among owners of the device which might basically stop people from purchasing Honor devices in the future especially from the south-east Asia country.
Thank you for reaching out to us. We regret to inform you that EMUI 10.0 / Android Q will not be available for your device due to hardware limitations as it requires higher hardware specifications for optimal performance. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Honor is yet to release a statement explaining the hardware limitations that actually prevent the Honor Play from getting the update, so we cannot provide a technical reason yet. Once there is one, we will make sure to inform our readers.
The Honor Play back in 2018 was a really powerful smartphone with premium features such as a 6.3-Inch FHD+ display with a wide notch. It runs on Kirin 970 CPU with a 4GB or 6GB RAM or 64BG of storage on both versions.
The device also has a 16MP and 2MP dual rear camera setup as well as a 16MP selfie camera. There is a fingerprint scanner on its back and a 3750mAh battery with support for 18W fast charge.
When it launched in July, it ran Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Honor later upgraded it to Android 9 Pie when it got the EMUI 9 update.
