All the Huawei products launched yesterday: Huawei Watch GT 2, Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 Porsche Design and lastly, Huawei Vision

As planned and scheduled, the Huawei’s grand flagship, the Mate 30 series was officially announced yesterday 19th of September at Munich, Germany. There were leaks about the likelihood of other Huawei smart devices like the Huawei Watch GT 2, a tablet computer as well as a TV that would feature the new Harmony OS.

The Harmony OS which was said to have been in development secretly for more than 10 years actually got unveiled many weeks ago while Huawei announced the Honor Vision as the first adopter of the unified operating system. The Harmony OS or “HongMeng” as it’s called in China was a response to the probable banning of Huawei from using Android OS in it’s devices.

Considering the stances of Huawei, the company had been the subject of point ever since it’s ban from the US and other Western countries. This raised a little eyebrow when the Mate 30 which is always the grand mobile device in all of Huawei product line would be launched without an Android OS. But well, let’s get into the details of the story.

Huawei unveiled couple of it’s products as it should and those devices have been radically upgraded and the new ones that were introduced also have great features in them that would give the company a good boost in the highly competitive gadgetry market.

First, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro

The Huawei Mate 30 Series was definitely the reason most people were glued to the news and the stream yesterday. The device is know for always pushing the limits of mobile photography. The Mate 30 Pro is a grand slam of the Mate 30 series with a new design and a new “Halo” camera arrangement.

During the tested units journalists were able to have few times with, they said the devices lacked the Google Play store and in fact doesn’t have any single Google service on it which is definitely a bad news considering how dependent tech users are on Google services such as the GMail, GMap, Google Chrome and so on and so forth.

The Huawei AppGallery is what the company seems to be pushing and since it has about 45,000 applications, the company said it’s working to invest billions of dollars to encourage developers to push their software and applications to the AppGallery so it can compete against the Play Store that already as about 2.7 million mobile applications and games.

Speaking abut the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, it has a slightly smaller screen size which is 6.2-Inch Super AMOLED display as well as the new “Waterfall” display which is a super curved screen that takes up to 80% of the device’s sides just as we’ve seen in the Vivo Nex 3 smartphone.

It has four camera lenses which is capable of Ultrawide, SuperSensing Wide, Telephoto and laser focused photography…that’s a lot of pixels and high tech in play if you imagine. The Mate 30 Pro also has a SuperSensing Cine Camera which has Ultrawide Cine, SuperSensing Wide, Telephoto, Portrait mode from far away as well as 3D depth-sensing focus.

In addition, Huawei touted improved videography on the Mate 30 and 30 Pro with the new 40-megapixel Cine camera. The camera improves footage, takes a more stable recording and increases light sensitivity, the company said.

As for the normal Huawei Mate 30, the device features a 6.62-inch display which also features the Huawei Eye care which obviously reduces blue light in smartphone screens. Both the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro have notches at the top of the device. The wider Notch on the Mate 30 Pro is said to house sensors for hand gesture as well as a more secured face unlock technology.

Better battery life over the Galaxy Note 10 Plus as well as a better cooling system despite being 5G capable. Juicing up the device’s power can be done in multiple ways which includes charging wirelessly which can be sped up by it’s 27W super fast charging as well as a normal charging which was tipped at 40W…that’s blazing fast you know.

As for the design, Huawei is known to always come up with something that’ll always interest us. The device comes in various colors such as Black which I fell in love with almost immediately, a Space Silver, Cosmic Purple and Emerald Green. There is also a special design called the Vegan Leather edition which is Orange and Forest Green leathered back. The vegan leather edition is durable, water and dust resistant.

I personally prefer the leather design models because of the glossy design of the device’s back. My current Mate 20X has a leathered casing which helps reduce fingerprint and water strains on the device.

As for pricing, the standard price will start at $885 for the Mate 30 while the Mate 30 Pro will be hiked as high as $1,099 while the 5G variant will be $100 higher ($1,199). There is also a Mate 30 RS Porsche Design, which comes with 512GB of storage. The RS starts at $2,095. (The price of the device was in Euro. We did conversion to USD which could be inaccurate)

The Huawei Watch GT 2

Another product Huawei unveiled was the Watch GT 2 which is expected to take on the Apple Watch Series 5. The Watch GT 2 features a 3D glass as well as an HD OLED display and is always on. The device also feature Bluetooth 5.0 with which you can pick calls from up to 150 meters away from a smartphone.

You can also have 500 songs saved on the device and the battery’s life can go about 2 weeks and it has 15 workout modes. It’s heart rate monitor is great and it works even underwater. It also has a TruRelax which is said to calm your nerves down.

The new watch starts at $275 for the 46mm display and 229 euros for the 42mm display. It goes on sale in October.  The Huawei Watch GT 2 is obviously a stand alone device which can work on it’s own. So it doesn’t matter whether you use a Samsung device or Huawei.

Huawei FreeBuds 3

Huawei Freebuds 3 features active noise cancellation

The Huawei FreeBuds 3 is the company’s Apple AirPods alternative. It’s not really bad when you listen to one. We’re going to publish our review of the FreeBuds 2 in coming week. The FreeBuds 3 has an active noise cancellation and offers rapid charging. As for pricing, the device starts at $200 and will be shipped by Otober.

Huawei Vision

The Honor Vision which also runs the Harmony OS

Huawei didn’t want to sue the word “TV” for the Vsion as it’s referred to as being “More than a TV”. This is like a giant smartphone which you can’t take around but mount somewhere in your house. The device features a 4K quantum dot screen for higher color gamut, 5.1 sound effects, internet-of-things control and Multiscreen collaboration.

You can use it for video call. It also includes “Intelligent and Perceptive AI-Eye”. The Vision also has facial recognition which enhances the video calls. It also has skeletal recognition for workouts and recognizes the vocal pitch of kids. In addition, you can control your smart home devices from Vision. The screen’s remote control needs to be charged only every three months.
