We all know all about the Google Home Smart Speaker. Been the real head on contender up against the Amazon Echo and Apple Homepod all makes it a really big deal. Even the fact that Huawei is joining in the Smart Speaker conquest doesn’t seems to matter since the Huawei Mate 20 is a really big success this year 2018.
But anyways, let’s talk about the Google Home smart speaker and how to tweak a bit to make it more human rather than been defaulted to it’s generic robotic AI voice in the 1960s Sci-Fi movies.
As lucky as you get it, Google makes it possible to choose 10 voices rather than settling for the robotic AI accent. You can even pick select a British or an Aussie accent…sounds interesting doesn’t it.
Without any further ado, let’s learn how to change the voice for your Google Home smart speaker.

- Open the Google Home app on Android or iOS.
- From the home screen, tap the gear icon labeled Settings.
- Scroll down to More settings.
- Select the Assistant tab, then tap Assistant voice.
- Tap on the colored circles to hear a preview of each available voice.
- When you’ve decided on one, just tap on the back arrow ( < ) at the top of the screen to save your preference.
This steps are pretty simple right? That’s how easy it can get with Google Home Speaker. If you also want to make these changes in the future, there is a big chance for you to do just that. Also do note that hanging between voices will also change the voice used in Assistant on your smartphone meaning you will definitely get the same result as with the Google Assistant preloaded on your smartphone.
Remember that the Google Assistant application is loaded on Android devices and can be accessed by long pressing the home button. Elsewhere if you want to access this application on iOS devices like an iPhone, you’ll need the Google Assistant app for iOS.
Hopefully that helps with changing the voice preset on your Google smart home speaker to make it sound more human and remember the Google Duplex AI and how it’s going to change the world of machine learning and AI in general.
😍Thanks bruv for the beautiful post. It really helped. I stumbled across this crazy video online where YouTubers were asking Alexa who Jesus was and so forth. I hope you can do something like that from BrumPost POV.
