Alright, Apple is rolling out a new playlist series that will be featuring all the top 100 songs on their music streaming service Apple Music globally. The music playlist will only feature top 100s from the countries where the service is in operation.
But since it’s a playlist, users can add up these top charts for their own county or the top 100 global songs to their own music library so they can stream it anytime they want both online and offline according to Rolling Rolling Stone.
During the launch, the are about 116 charts launching in all total which also includes top Global 100 and one for each Apple Music Market. Many but not all countries will have access to all the new Top 100 Playlist charts.
Another fantastic thing about the listing is that Top Chart Playlists will be updated everyday at 12:00 AM PT based on the service’s streams to keep all the information alive and freshened up.
Apart the freshness of the playlist on a regular basis, we also got from the Rolling Stone’s report that the charts is due to growing importance of streaming numbers. So a chart might be necessary to help streamers. Artists, Labels and Managers and even music scouts mostly utilize top charts for talent hunts and so the system’s adoption will be a win win for everyone using it.
And don’t forget the dominance of the Apple Music in the North American market. With about 50 Million paid subscribers worldwide, the service is currently ahead of Spotify (In North America) based on a report gotten from Tim Cook on the latest earnings call of the company.
“We took the leadership position in North America during the quarter and we have the leadership position in Japan, and in some of the markets that we’ve been in for a long period of time,” he said in July.
While Spotify still has 83 million globally paying subscribers, Apple music might be speeding to overtake or meet up with the biggest Music streaming service.
Also note that these new top chart aren’t just launching as a static section on the Apple music application instead, a dynamic playlists which means Apple’s top Chart playlists will not be replacing the existing Top 200 Songs Chart which is available today.
Playlists are an important battleground between the major streaming services, with Spotify focusing heavily on personalization with playlists like its flagship Discover Weekly, plus Release Radar, Daily Mixes (and a newer variation, Your Daily Car Mix), Your Summer Rewind, and Time Capsule.
Apple Music, meanwhile, offers users a Favorites playlist, along with a New Music Mix, Chill Mix, and is rolling out a Friends Mix in iOS 12.
