It’s like Black is the new beauty as many applications and operating systems now supports dark/night mode which always looked amazing especially on AMOLED displays. This is a move to reduce strains of blue light from piercing through your eyes which could cause eye damages in the future.
The newest on the list of “Black” user interface is the GMail mobile application which had been since the new Android 10 whereby you can simply enable a full-system dark theme across it’s new mobile OS. This feature can also be turned on some individual Google applications like the YouTube application to Calendar or Calculator applications while other bigger applications like the Chrome browser doesn’t have a dark mode settings which I don’t really find amazing considering how other applications like Facebook Messenger, Slack, Reddit, third party browser applications now feature this.
But the Good new is that the GMail app now has been one of them, but starting this week it’s no longer a holdout, as Google has started to roll out a dark-mode setting for Gmail on Android 10.
One of the biggest advantage of using a dark mode on your smartphone is how much it reserves your battery life reduce strains on your eyes at night or in a darkened areas. The night/dark mode had been around since he Android Pie 9 update but the the interface doesn’t effect on the entire system while the new Android 10 makes it more widespread making native/pre-installed applications to adopt the mode when enabled.

Not all of Google’s apps use the system default theme automatically, however. Along with Gmail, you’ll need to turn on dark mode in Calendar, for example, and YouTube. Here’s how to turn it on in Gmail on Android 10.
How to Activate Dark Mode in Gmail on Android 10

GMail app doesn’t by default go to the Dark Mode whenever you turn on the dark mode in the Android 10 settings. This means you always have to manually turn it on by yourself. To do this, you have to do the following.
1. In the Gmail app on your phone, tap the hamburger menu in the top left.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the list, and tap Settings.
3. Tap General Settings.
4. At the top of the list, tap Theme.
5. Tap Dark or, if you’ve already set the dark theme as your system default, tap System. default.
This automatically turns on the dark mode on the GMail application giving it a dark design which I really love. This makes reading messages convenient. When the Dark Mode is toggled on, the text are turned to white or greyish color which makes it easy for you to read your messages conveniently.
