The Google Assistant voices is being offered in multiple languages especially in English to it’s US customers but Google will be taking things a step further as it’s expanding that internationally.
The company is now specifically launching the new Google Assistant Voice in languages such as French, German, Japanese, Dutch, Norwegian, Korean, Italian and of course English but specifically for the UK and India. The system now has a second voice option which is however built with the Google DeepMind’s WaveNet technology.
John Legend’s voice was previewed last year during Google I/O event and was said to be one of the six new Google Assistant voices that were in the works for US users of the service. Now, the DeepMind AI as well as the speech synthesis model, WaveNet which Google said would easily sample human speech thereby cutting down on studio time, to quickly create realistic-sounding voice.
Trying the John Legend’s voice sound very natural rather than the usual robotic sound we get from Voice Assistants. The new language is more unique and quite perfected from the previous generation in that it quickly learn and understand how users in certain countries talk and also take on their accent, cultural references, geographical points of interest and so forth. The point is, the voice should sound like a native speaker, and it should more accurately listen and respond to native speakers.

Google Assistant is available in over 30 languages. US users can choose between 11 English voices, while the UK now has two English voices.
How to Select a Google Assistant voice
With loads of voices to choose from, your area and locale is important before choosing which of the Google Assistant Voice you want. Selecting a new Voice, you have to go to the Settings of the Google Assistant App and then select any voice you’d prefer. Another new thing you’ll notice each voice available is displayed by color, rather than gender.
How to select Google Assistant voice on Android phone and tablet
- On your Android phone or tablet, touch and hold the Home button or say “Ok Google”. or follow the swipe style you already use on your device (Huawei for example)
- At the bottom right, tap the compass-like icon.
- At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial > Settings.
- Tap Assistant > Assistant voice.
- Choose a voice.
