Everyone including me hates the annoying lousy alarm beeps that often come as the default of most smartphones. But what if I tell you that it’s possible to make that switch and make use of your favorite song instead.

For the sake of this tutorial, I’ll be making use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

In order to make your favorite song an alarm ringtone on your Android smartphone, all you have to do is to first head over to your Android device’s “Clock” app where you’ll be presented with different clock options. Go to the “Alarm” tab where you’ll find a list of all the alarms you have already.

Else, you can just create a newer Alarm. However, the process of making use of your favorite song for Alarms on Android devices (new or existing alarms) is the same so just chill back and follow the process below.

Assign your favorite song as the Alarm ringtone on your Android phone

1. The first thing you want to do is to click on the “+” sign (or “add new” button depending on what it’s called on your device)

2. From the alarm creation screen, select the Alarm frequency, Alarm date, Name of the Alarm and then toggle on the relevant Alarm features you want such as “Vibration“, “Snooze“, and of course, “Alarm Sound“.

3. Next, go back to “Alarm Sound” and you should see the default Alarm ringtone beneath the “Alarm Sound” (in my case it’s Homecoming). Click on it and it should take you a new configuration page to set this up.

4. From the list of options, you should see things like “Bixby Alarm”, “Spotify”, and “Ringtone”. At the bottom, you’ll also find the Alarm Volume.

5. Depending on the route you want to take, you can select either of the following

1. Bixby Alarm: Reads out the current time, weather forecast, and news over music as the alarm rings.
2. Spotify: Would require internet but it basically function as using your locally-stored songs which leads to the third option…
3. Ringtone: From the ringtone interface, you can switch from the default ringtone to another or just make use of your favorite song that’s locally stored on your Android phone. Here’s how.

6. For the sake of this tutorial, we’ll select option 3 “Ringtone”.

7. When you click on “Ringtone”, you’ll see another configuration screen where you can switch the ringtone to whichever you want and also configure the volume and other important features of the ringtone.

8. In order to set your favorite song as the Alarm Ringtone on your Android device, from the current screen (Selected Ringtone), click on the “+” sign at the top right corner and you’ll see a list of all the songs that are locally stored on your Android device. (For a better experience, you should install Samsung Music or your OEM’s first-party music player app).

9. Scroll through your list of songs and select your favorite song and click “Done“.

Afterwards, you can navigate back to the main Alarm settings screen (Option 2) and modify your initial options. If everything is good enough, remember to “Save” your settings before exiting.
