Facebook, the social network giant has now made has now made its redesigned desktop website version available worldwide in an announcement made by the company on Friday. Initially, the design was available but user can only opt in for it since March and its availability wasn’t global as at that time.
In a blog post published today, Facebook says the new site will “now be the web experience for Facebook globally,” adding that “it’s faster, easier to use and gives your eyes a break with dark mode.”
When I tried out the dark mode, it was really nice to see just as you’d expect in the era of dark mode taking over user interfaces of different platforms (including Brumpost’s website). The home page is also redesigned and trimmed up giving rooms for a much better experience while scrolling through the unlimited posts from thousands of your friends.
Just in case you want to turn on the new design and enable dark mode immediately, here’s how:
Click on the down arrow at the end of the upper menu bar to pull up old Facebook’s settings menu.
Click “Switch to new Facebook.”
Click the same down arrow and toggle dark mode from off to on.
Facebook wants to refocus the desktop model on what its users enjoys the most which includes events, groups and messaging capability which was what the company pitched during the unveiling of the redesign at the F8 last year. It wasn’t quite the end of the News Feed per se, but more Facebook leadership admitted that it’s now an antiquated concept to have an algorithmic feed filled mostly with junk from pages and public posts.

With the company trying to further promote discretion on its platform, the fact that more of its users are going back into private groups and messaging made Facebook refocus the desktop into what the users really wants. According to the company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg earlier on before the redesign was revealed, made it know that the company is further approaching privacy-focused products and functionalities on the platform.
Really if you think about it, most people don’t really spend time on Facebook any longer as users are pouring to other platforms such as TikTok, Twitch, YouTube and Instagram and whatever newer fascinating platform released.
