Earlier today, Honor Play 9A was unveiled as a budget-friendly device with entry-level specifications. While having a generous 5000mAh battery, that places it right above the slightly expensive Honor 9X or the Honor Play 3.
As for the specification of the Honor Play 9A, it features a 6.3-inch of LCD display with 720P+ resolution giving it a 20:9 aspect ratio and covers 70% of the NTSC color space. The device come with a teardrop notch at the center-top of the display which houses the device’s 8MP front facing selfie camera that can shoot a maximum resolution of 1080P.
And as for the back of the device is another 13MP main camera (f/1.8 aperture) which can also shoot the same 1080P of resolution which is coupled with the 2MP depth sensing camera for portrait shots. Also here is the rear-mounted fingerprint reader.
The Honor Play 9A is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset with eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores + PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Aside that is the device’s 4GB of RAM and runs the Magic UO 3.0.1 which is built right on top of the Android 10 OS.
The phone comes with 64GB of storage by default with an option for 128GB. A standard microSD card can be placed in the dedicated slot to add up to 512GB more.
Although the device features a massive 5000 mAh battery, it charges using the good old MicroUSB port which could only reach the 10W speed. There is also the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack and an FM radio receiver on the device as well.
The phone also features Huawei’s Histen 6.0 audio tech. If you go headphones-free, the loudspeaker (backed by a Smart PA amp) promises 88dB of thumping music.
In terms of connectivity, the Play 9A is a dual SIM phone with 4G and VoLTE support. There’s also 2.4GHz Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 5.0 (but no NFC).
