Honor is on the verge of overtaking its former parent company, Huawei as it releases its own flagship devices, the Honor Magic 3 series which consist of three models such as the Magic 3, Magic 3 Pro, and Magic 3 Pro+. The naming of the device might have been adopted from its former parent company (Huawei which is known for always naming its high-end variants Pro+) and the design of the device looks similar to the Huawei Mate 40 Pro with the Magic 3 Pro+ looking similar to the Mate 40 Porsche Design.
But the good thing about the devices includes the fact that they are all running the Android 11 OS with Google Mobile Service (GMS) with the Honor Magic UI 5.0 skin laced on top of it. The Magic UI on the other hand got most of its design aesthetics from the EMUI while the company was still with Huawei and so there are some similarities with the look and feel of the Magic UI 5 and EMUI 11 or even the new HarmonyOS 2.0 that’s powering the Huawei P50 series.
What you get on the new Magic 3 series includes ultra-fast capacity and really curved glass on the display which wraps around the device. While the world is trying to run away from curved displays, Honor seems to have taken it a step further with the new device and that’s what you’ll be getting with these premium-tier devices.
But truth be told, I love the implementation of the rear camera setup which is a circular design just like the Mate 40 series but with a better look and feel. The base Magic 3 model comes with a triple camera setup while the mid-tier Magic 3 Pro has a quad-camera setup and then the high-end Magic 3 Pro+ also has a quad-camera setup with the inclusion of a ToF sensor.

All the cameras on the Magic 3 Pro+ are the main sensors according to the company’s CEO during the keynote as he calls it “revolutionary”. That term has been thrown around a lot during smartphone keynote and it’s losing its meaning already.
Powered by Snapdragon 888+ which offers support for 5G network. 5G is another missing configuration on the Huawei P50 series when it debuted last month.
Below is a tabular comparison of all the three Honor Magic 3 smartphones against one another. And for a fact, Honor is going all out with these devices with high-end features that have been cranked to the max. One thing though is the fact that these devices are really expensive.

The success of these devices will surely mark a new era for the brand on the international smartphone market as it surfs through it alone without the backing of Huawei. The fact that Honor is back with the Google Play Services is a big plus and that will give the company the capacity to continue to explore different options as it takes on other bigger brands on the market such as Apple and Samsung as well as a local rival, Xiaomi which continues to ace all of its competitors on the smartphone market lately.
