The 5G network had been in the news for quite a while now and many people have been anticipating it’s effects in communication. The speedy connection of the 5G network is expected to be top-notch and blazing fast as much as you can imagine.

The network isn’t just everywhere just yet but that never stopped smartphone makers to make devices which has the technology on board. But devices that supports 5G are usually more expensive than those with 4G LTE networks.

But the race to build the infrastructures needed to get this network everywhere which will ultimately place the 5G phone in the hands of everyone in the nearest future is what most OEMs are currently working on.

In the United States for example, the network in only available in some select cities and the carriers who currently support them includes the likes of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon but there are of course some other carriers as well. While in other countries such as UK, Australia and Canada are also catching up. In China, the country is much ahead thanks to it’s local 5G network equipment maker Huawei which is currently battling it out with the US.

It’s obvious 5G won’t replace 4G network at least not now but that doesn’t mean the network isn’t as fast you’d expect. But to really enjoy the 5G network to the max, you need a true 5G smartphone which can handle the task to the max.

Companies like Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus have all been pushing their mid-range devices with 5G network supports but are those the best we can get? Maybe not! That’s why we’ll examine some great and valuable 5G smartphone in the year 2020.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra might be the peak of the Galaxy Note series in 2020 but not the peak of smartphone. The device sports everything from great display to powerful camera system and powerful battery to match the task. Thanks to the device’s Snapdragon 865+ chipset, it’s able to handle whatever task being thrown at it with ease.

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra of course sports the latest 5G network which makes network connection pretty fast but that come at a price because this is a US$1000+ smartphone. It made the number one on our list because of the amazing specifications the device has and support for 5G network.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra 5G

The camera setup of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra 5G is unusual but cool. The overall design of the back of the device itself is amazing and it sports every high-end specifications you’d expect from a device so expensive as this.

Quad 48MP rear camera setup which is capable of 120x zoom coupled with the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset and then you get 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage with the massive 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, you can do anything thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate while the device also sports a 120W blazing fast charging! What else do you want from a premium flagship well cranked up to suite your 5G needs.

Oppo Find X2 5G (Ceramics)

Oppo Find X2 5G is another phenomenal smartphone powered by Android OS and it sports everything you’ll expect from a premium device in it’s league – I’m talking about a great 6.7-inch 3K QHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz blazing fast refresh rate with 240Hz touch registration rate.

It has 48MP triple rear camera setup with a 32MP front facing camera. But that’s not all, it runs on the Snapdragon 865 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. 4,200mAh battery which can last you through the day and this version comes in the Black ceramics build quality making it one of the best premium 5G smartphones in 2020.

Galaxy Z Flip 5G

Unless you don’t read news, the Galaxy Z Flip was Samsung’s second successful attempt to making a folding smartphone and the 5G variant was the Galaxy Z Flip 5G of course the naming will ring a bell to the ear/eye. The device is pretty expensive and yeah it has everything you’d expect from a premium device including high-power Snapdragon chipset and large storage space and runs the current Android 10 OS.

The memorable thing about this device is the dual screen which looks much like the Motorola Razr Flip which didn’t really perform to expectation despite being as almost pricey as the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. But here you go.

Huawei P40 series (P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro+)

Despite being in a dire situation, Huawei still manages to pull out great devices year after year as the company is further pushed into isolation by the US government but that’s a topic for another time. The P40 series were all released earlier this year sporting all the incredible features you’d expect from a premium flagship device with multiple camera setup.

Faster processor places it right above it’s predecessor and better storage spaces and so forth. Even if no smartphone supports the 5G technology, you’d expect such from a Huawei smartphone which definitely delivers in that region. So if you don’t mind substituting Google mobile service for Huawei mobile service and have all your data stored in Huawei cloud instead of Google Drive, then you can jump on the device. It’s definitely worth it.

OnePlus Nord

If you’re in the U.S., forget about the OnePlus Nord unless you want to buy it straight from China but that’s another route to owning this great looking smartphone which has everything you’d expect despite being a mid-range device.

5G network support is one of the big plus on this device which probably is the selling point considering the fact that the high-priced OnePlus 8 Pro didn’t have this technology on board. But aside 5G modem on board, other cool things about the device includes quad rear camera setup, 6.44-inch AMOLED display and 90Hz refresh rate all priced at about US$529 if you want one.

The Galaxy 20 series (S20, S20 Plus, S20 Ultra)

The Galaxy S20 series have great hardware specifications to match their high price-tag. If you’re wiling to go high up on the scale for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, that will get you a 120Hz Super AMOLED display with 6.9-inch while the other variants come in 6.2-inch (Galaxy S20) and 6.7-inch (Galaxy S20 Plus) all sporting 5G network support which is great.

You also get a great IP69 water resistance with powerful battery life while also being capable of reverse wireless charging. Quad rear camera setup on the Galaxy S20 Plus and S20 Ultra while the Galaxy S20, the base model sports a triple setup.

LG Velvet 5G

The new LG Velvet 5G is the company’s attempt to also penetrate the smartphone market with it’s prowess as well as giving users what they need in the modern time where speedy internet connection is required, 5G.

The device comes in the price range between US$600 and US$700 but that depends on the carrier in the US for example, Verizon sells a more expensive version of the device basically due to the company’s faster 5G network. But 5G network support isn’t the only thing on the device as you also get a great 6.8-inch display and of course the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Motorola Edge Plus

If you saw the Huawei Mate 30 Pro or the Vivo Nex 3 5G and do not mind their “waterfall” displays, then you will be forgiven if you thought the Motorola Edge Plus is cool as well. Sporting a massive OLED panel, blazing fast Snapdragon 865 chipset and big batteries to last you through the day.

The inclusion of the 5G network support on the Motorola Edge Plus is a big addition to the device even though it has some quirks as well but let’s face, there is no device without one issue or the other right.

OnePlus 8 series (OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro)

Both the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro offer immersive premium experience but that’s what you expect from an expensive smartphone of such league. First is the OnePlus 8 Pro which sports a 120Hz refresh rate display which is also AMOLED (Fluid AMOLED precisely) and then an extra telephoto camera

Even the cheaper OnePlus 8, which is the base model still sports 5G network support and has a blazing fast 90Hz display with premium-level processing capacity and large storage space.

Vivo Nex 3S 5G

The Vivo Nex 3S 5G is a big smartphone but that’s not just big for nothing as the device has everything you’d expect from a premium flagship. The device sports a massive 6.89-inch AMOLED display with the signature “waterfall” display and aside that, it also has a massive 4,50mAh Li-Po battery to cater for the big display and other interesting specifications which includes 5G network support, a triple rear camera setup and of course the Snapdragon 865 chipset.

The Vivo Nex 3S 5G is pretty expensive though but when you consider all what you get owning one of this high piece of tech, you know it’s worth it but issue is the device being ridden with bloatware from Vivo but that’s also another story for another time. 

Motorola G 5G Plus

The name did majority of the explanation of what the device will be all about with so many “Gs” added to it. This US$400 smartphone sports a nice 6.7-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate and 5,000mAh battery and mid-range Snapdragon 765 5G processor allowing it to better support the 5G network far more easily despite being a mid-range smartphone.

Motorola which is called the pioneer of modern telephone is trying to reclaim it’s old glory by releasing really awesome devices capable of immersive user experience and the next-gen 5G network support.

LG V60 ThinQ 5G

The LG V60 ThinQ is LG’s attempt to do the dual-screen smartphone in it’s own way whereby you still own the single traditional-looking smartphone but can be turned around to a dual-screen device thanks to the extra screen that comes with the device which can be used to do othger important things but that’s not all.

The LG V60 ThinQ 5G also sports some high-end premium qualities such as faster processing power and large storage space and of course better camera system.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G

Oppo as we all know is always making the awesome high-end and mid-tier “sometimes” smartphones. The Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G sports a nice 6.5-inch 90Hz display with HDR10+ capacity with NFC technology support and runs on the current ndroid 10 platform.

Other important reasons why you might consider this device includes the fact that it sports 4,025mAh battery capacity with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage and runs on the Snapdragon 765G SoC with Octa-core processing.

Realme X50 Pro 5G

If you live in Europe then this is the right 5G smartphone for you offering you everything from the high quality Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate to NFC technology and Android 10 OS but that’s not all.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G also has an incredible battery which charges at a blazing fast speed with the device’s 65W SuperDart charge and also has a 64MP AI quad rear camera setup and most of all, it has a Snapdragon 865 chipset on board with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G

You’ll be forgiven to think there was no 5G Galaxy Note 10 Plus but here you go, the device which is usually the top-end Galaxy smartphones each year sporting everything the S-series lacks.

Though launched a year ago (2019 precisely), this is a massive 6.8-inch screen smartphone with curved edges making the views even much more immersive but there is also powerful camera and ultra fast processing capacity with large storage space. The 5G variant is sold at about US$1,300.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G

This is the other Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro with 5G capacity offering you an even much more powerful specifications and capacity that places it right above all others in it’s league.

Sporting a cool 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Snapdragon 865 chipset on board, you also get 8GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage with Wi-Fi 6 support.

Galaxy A90 5G

The highest of the Galaxy A-series but this time, it sports the 5G network support, Using the Galaxy A9 5G might make you wonder why you need to pay US$1k for the Galaxy S-series but if that doesn’t justify my argument enough, let’s examine why this US$500 mid-range smartphone seems to be everythign you’d want.

First, you get the high-end Snapdragon 855 chipset on board with a powerful 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with high refresh rate then powerful battery and large storage capacity with a triple rear camera setup all which outperforms your typical mid-range device. What else? Makes me wonder if mid-rangers are the new flagships.
