When Apple announced the Display XDR alongside the MacPro lat year, it was a milestone in the tech world. With the devices getting released later on this year before it runs out, the Display XDR in particular has a list of devices it’s only compatible with.
The Display XDR is now available for order on the Apple website and this is the first monitor Apple will be releasing after so long so it’s worth the hype if you think about the quality that this device offers.

It’s a very high specification display, as shown by its starting price of $5,000. It’s a costly machine, that’s for sure.,But if you have a Mac that is capable of powering it, you’ll be rewarded by a stunning image.
That said, this being the latest and greatest monitor it needs quite a specific round of things in order to work. As a result, it can only be used with Macs running macOS Catalina 10.15.2.

Oh, and they have to be on a small list of devices.
Those Macs include:
- Mac Pro (2019) with MPX Module GPUs
- 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019)
- 15-inch MacBook Pro (2018 and later)
- 21.5-inch iMac (2019)
- 27-inch iMac (2019)
- Any Mac model with Thunderbolt 3 ports paired with Blackmagic eGPU or Blackmagic eGPU Pro

If you’re lucky to own one of those Mac computers then you’re good to go. You can then pick up the Display XDR for a whooping $5000 while the stand costs an additional $1000.
Though expensive, the Display XDR isn’t for everyone definitely and considering the features it offer, it’ll be considerate to know that the Apple XDR also featured on the iPhone 11 Pro and considering the kind of quality this device offer, it’ll be a great tool for filmmakers and artists because of its high-end specs.
