Bluedio makes varieties of audio devices ranging from True Wireless Earbuds to over-ear headphones and the company seems to be respected in the game for quite a while. Today, I’ll be writing about the Bluedio T elf 2 review as well as my overall experience about the TWS earbuds altogether.
As another Chinese brand, I had no issue with the fact that they make really cool stuffs but sincerely I never heard of them until I stumbled upon the Bluedio Hi Hurricane TWS earbuds which was somehow crazy to use but that’s a story for another day.
Meanwhile the Bluedio T-elf 2 TWS earbuds was a great alternative to the previous one I got from the company which I review in that it had the design which I loved as well as touch control, and face censor which all make sense while reading the official specifications from the company’s website.
The Bluedio T-elf 2 itself isn’t expensive as well because the company is known for making affordable/entry-level wireless headphones and this one was one of such. Really portable and barely noticeable in the ear except for the black color so someone close-by will notice eventually that you’re wearing an earbud but that’s not an issue.
The fact that the earbuds made some good first impression was enough to keep it around and yeah it was a fairly good impression when I unboxed the package to reveal what was inside the box and honestly, it was really tiny and the tiny case was impressive.
Finally I saw one of in the many affordable earbuds maker who isn’t wasting resources any longer compared to the previous SWZYOR A2 TWS Earbuds which I reviewed some weeks back whose casing was unnecessarily large despite having nothing in it.
The casing of the Bluedio T-elf 2 itself is really simple and sleek and I loved the design of it. I won’t talk much about it in this review but it’s really portable and can fit right into anywhere you want to store it. Apart from that, it also feature some modern technology which isn’t really common in affordable earbuds and I was also surprised about this because sometimes some of these companies would write something on their website but you’ll find another thing on the product itself.
USB Type-C for real and the casing works as the connector just like the AirPods casing whereby when you flip it open, it auto turn on the earbuds and pair together and then connect with your smartphone… Wow! I said and I was really impressed.
So finally I brought out the extra tiny earbuds and they were immediately turned on upon simple touch and that was fair enough. Most affordable TWS earbuds uses buttons which makes them hard to control whenever they’re in your ear. But that’s not the case with the Bluedio T-elf TWS earbuds as it was touch control.
Connection was breeze but before I proceed to what the earbuds sounds like, other things in the box includes a USB-C cable, extra eartips and a manual all well packed up within the device’s mini casing. The packaging and all the minimalist design makes me interested with the earbuds and yeah I finally got an affordable TWS earbuds that will impress me after a long list.
Review about what the Bluedio T-elf 2 TWS earbuds sounds like
I know this is the part that matters most to you and seriously, you get what you paid for. I don’t know if that answers the question of what the Bluedio T-elf 2 sounds like. But honestly, this is a US$40 TWS earbuds so I wasn’t expecting it to sound like a Senheisser headphone which costs hundreds of dollars.
But with that, the earbuds did sound fairly below my expectations. Made me feel the company should probably have put more effort into bettering their earbuds instead of making fanciful casing and all that. I mean what was the need for the sensors, touch controls and the elegant casing when the earbuds itself suck.
It doesn’t suck in its entirety because options are subjective but I’ve used a number of affordable and entry level TWS earbuds and comparing their sound quality with the Bluedio T-elf 2, it’s just not really for me. But before I run more deep on that, here are few issues I had with the earbuds.
First of all, I had issues with the fitting I mean maybe my ears canals were too big or something but somehow, the largest eartip that came with the device was like the smallest of the SWZYOR A2 TWS Earbuds for real.
The earbuds themselves were really tiny and can be easily lost because they don’t really sit well in the ear and with the overtly tiny eartips I wondered if this is meant for small people like my Girlfriend ?? because when she tried it on, it was a perfect fit for her compared to when she wore the SWZYOR A2 TWS Earbuds that appeared larger than life on her earlobes.
So the size and fitting were the first issue I had with the earbuds and second was that I had to swap out the eartips for the medium size eartip found on the HBQ Q32 TWS earbuds to replace it and it was perfect even though the Bluedio T-elf 2 TWS earbuds now looked protruding in the ear.
Which leads to the sound quality as mentioned above because for real, the fitting and design of the earbuds is part of what will contribute to the audio quality at large and in this case, it did. To my girlfriend, she said it sounded wlel enough but the quality wasn’t really good so she gave it 59%.
While I tried it on, I didn’t like the audio quality either and in fact increasing the volume the maximum never did much to help. I tried equalizers but they all made the earbuds sound worse. The problem is that the speakers within the device are probably extra tiny so they’re not loud enough to produce a crisp audio. When I compared the audio quality with the SWZYOR A2 TWS Earbuds, it was no match in anyway but the latter had a much larger design which gave the speakers more room to produce better sounds.
The bass weren’t as good and the treble was super aggressive as if someone was rubbing two aluminum plates against one another so increasing the volume to the max for a longer period could sincerely cause a damage because the noisy sound enters directly into the ear canal.
Is it recommendable?
Though my review about the Bluedio T-elf 2 might suck but the earbuds isn’t entirely bad for real. It’s just not for people like me. Maybe I wouldn’t say I’m an audiophile but for real, I have good ears for sound maybe because I’m a musician myself and I listen to beats alot. Compared to the SWZYOR A2 TWS Earbuds, you can clearly hear the separation of the beats, the voice, the ad-lib at the background, everything just sound as if its well thought out like a professional headphone because I regularly use the Pioneer HDJ 1000 to record and I know what it feels like.
But the Bluedio T-elf 2 TWS earbuds didn’t do that as its just like a bundled sound dumped into the ear. You hardly can tell everything apart and you wouldn’t hear all the beat separations and ad-lib clearly. It sounds like the treble-aggressive version of the bass-aggressive HBQ Q32 TWS earbuds.
So it’s recommendable if you don’t mind all that. The audio isn’t bad for whatever reaosn but I just believe it could do better even though it was affordable because I’ve seen other affordable earbuds doing really good at a much lower price point which is what shaped my judgement about the earbuds.
If you’re someone with small body parts like you have small ears, then they will fit perfectly for you and if you don’t always scratch or touch your ear often then you might avoid those accidental touching of the earbuds because it’s touch system like built on the entire surface of the earbuds whereby no matter where you place your hand, you’re always touching the senor and the earbuds will either stop or skip the track you’re playing. Pretty annoying right.
The build quality of the Bluedio T-elf 2 TWS earbuds
On the casing it said its splash resistant so you shouldn’t have problem with accidental splashes once in a while but that doesn’t mean you should take them out for a spin in the rain or a swimming session because you might just damage it.
Also the earbuds feels really tightened and the casing feels premium as well. The lip of the casing opens tightly and with the magnetic attraction, it closes and seals well. It also feels sturdy in the hand and the earbuds themselves feels nice and really good.
All the earbuds came in black so you won’t see any other color of the T-elf 2. Also you won’t get fingerprint attraction because of the design of the casing and the earbuds themselves. It has the frosted design unlike glossy finishes on others we’ve seen in the past especially the SWZYOR A2 TWS Earbuds.
It took about 2 hours for the earbuds’ casing to be fully charged while the earbuds themselves only took like an hour or so. It has an LED indicator on the casing which let you know if the earbuds are fully charged or not. Also the battery life was about 3 hours on a continuous usage before running out while the casing took almost a day and half before needing to be recharged too so the battery efficiency is quite good despite being overtly portable.
The device came with an accompanying application which obviously does nothing and has nothing but negative reviews on the Play store where I saw it. It really sucked upon trying it out and I uninstalled the app immediately afterwards.
Final thoughts about the Bluedio T-elf 2 TWS earbuds
Overall, the earbuds didn’t perform to my expectations maybe I raised it too high but the fact that I’ve seen others perform really well at this price point made me feel disappointed in the earbuds. But then again the earbuds has some really fanciful features which might interest you because those features aren’t really common in others. The face sensor which detects whether you have the earbuds in your ear to pause or play songs is an interesting addition which isn’t very common in other earbuds at this price point but well we have it on this one. As said earlier, it’s recommendable but depending on your choice and wants, this might be just for you or not.
