With so many issues going on with Huawei these days, the company doesn’t seem tot have any sign of backing down at any moment. The Huawei P30 had been a big subject of speculations by various outlets worldwide. With leaks and rumors, we don’t know for certain what the device would look like but we definitely know based on the previous version of the device, we could expect something premium and powerful.
The Design Could be Upgraded
We all know Huawei is very notorious for using Gradients on it’s devices all the way since 2017. This could be the case with the P30 and P30 Pro smartphones. Also, the notch would be a smaller waterdrop notch design just as een on the Mate 20X.

Unlike Honor View 20 with a Punch-Hole camera design on it’s screen, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro could feature notches. Parts of reasons being that the company is consistently trying to reinvent it’s devices every year to give it a new look and upgraded features.
But the differences in the design of both P30 and P30 Pro might not be very visible. But the back could determine that with P30 Pro being an higher end version could feature more cameras unlike the P30 simpler version. Leaks also shows that the P30 would have multi-colored glass back, with the volume rockers on the side, Headphone present at the buttom right beside the USB Type-C and Speaker.
Let’s talk about the Headphone Jack
When Huawei pulled out the 3.5 MM headphone Jack port on the previous Huawei P20 last year, we were left with USB Type-C dongles that houses the Headphone jack port. But if the rumors are true, then the Headphone jack will be returning back to the P30 and P30 Pro.
Although Huawei had been working and selling it’s own extra smartphone accessories among which is the AirPod lookalike but which is sold cheaper. Huawei might not be tempted unlike Apple to force that device on it’s customers by pulling off the headphone jack in it’s 2019 set of devices. As seen on the Honor View 20, the jack lives on.
How about the Cameras
No! There won’t be rounded shaped camera placement like the Mate 20. But as usual, this is going to be a device loaded with lots of cameras. While the waterdrop notch on the front of the device could house just a single camera, the back of the device wold house multiple cameras then. At least 4 of them…as for the P30 Pro. But the P30 will have just 3 back cameras.
Also, reports vary about the P30 series’ image sensors; others say that the P30 Pro might carry a 38MP camera powered by a Sony sensor, while others say that the P30 will have a 40MP one.
In-display fingerprint scanner? Possible
The leak rendering doesn’t seems to show anywhere that there would be a fingerprint scanner on the body or back of the device which might lead us to concluding that there would be in-display fingerprint scanner. Don’t be surprised. Huawei isn’t the first to employ this technology.
The P20 Pro for example, features this technology last year. While the fingerprint scanner could be on the side of the device, that is very unlikely considering the way Huawei had previously placed it’s scanners in it’s older devices (Back and front)
How many Color options
The previous Huawei P20 and P20 Pro had three color options each. Both of them offered the Black and Midnight Blue but differed in the third color option; P20 had Pink Gold while P20 Pro had Twilight. So far, the rendered leaks are showing the P30 and P30 Pro in black and blue but of course, these aren’t official. Following the P20 series, it’s possible that both smartphones will each have a different third option as well.
Specifications
We think the P30 series to run on Huawei’s latest Kirin processor. The P20 series came with a Kirin 970 chipset, while Huawei’s Mate 20 had the newer Kirin 980, which is what the P30 series will most likely have.
But as for the RAM, reports suggest that the P30 Pro will carry a really big 12GB, while the P30 will be similar to the Mate 20 Pro with 8GB RAM.
It’s also been reported previously that Huawei is working on a handset capable of 5G, but it’s highly likely that it will not be equipped with that if it is indeed powered by a Kirin 980 chipset. Lastly, the P30 and P30 Pro will most likely run on Android 9 out of the box.
Battery capacity
Rumors have it that the battery life of the P30 series will be around 3400mAh to 4000mAh. Do note that the Mate 20 Pro has a capacity of 4,200mAh, so it’s also possible that the P30 Pro might follow that lead instead. It’s also expected that the smartphones will have the supercharge technology but we’re hoping that will also sport wireless charging.
Pricing and availability
Again, Nothing is offiical yet, but when Huawei finally introduce this device to us officially by March, we’ll know. But then the pricing of the device could go for as high as $700 or way higher than that.
Although reports already has it that the company might present the P30 smartphones at the Huawei press conference slated to happen on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress 2019.
The former case is more likely than the latter, given that the P20 series was announced at the end of March 2018, things change anyway.
And back to the pricing, since the P20 and P20 Pro launched at $782 and UKP 1044 respectively, the P30 series would probably be similar or be priced higher than that.
That’s all we know so far about Huawei’s upcoming P30 series. Are you looking forward to this flagship smartphone? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
