Believe it or not, Huawei is number 1 smartphone manufacturer after the Chinese giant surpasses Samsung to become the world largest smartphone maker in April despite the tightened grips of the US Government trying to axe the company from major market around the world.

This was officially stated by Counterpoint Research which made it known that for the first time, Huawei finally beat Samsung to emerge as world number one largest smartphone maker in April of 2020. According to an email obtained by GizmoChina from the VP of Research at Counterpoint, Neil Shah, stated that the Chinese giant took a 19% mobile market share for a short period of time while Samsung took 17% mobile market share.

One of the biggest reasons for Huawei’s success can easily be attributed to the loyalty of it’s Chinese market consumers who stuck with the company’s smartphones ever since Huawei and Google had been banned from working together.

The company had been working endlessly to creating it’s own ecosystem while prioritizing its focus on the Android AOSP which now runs on it’s own Huawei Mobile Service (HMS) in place of the Google Mobile Service (GMS) which comprises of all the Huwei software products including it’s App Gallery and the EMUI and Magic UI all which helped Huawei got to the number 1 smartphone manufacturer spot since GMS isn’t relevant in China.

Huawei’s sales during the first quarter of the year was quite exponential in China while the company also reaches out to Europe and South East Asia but with the pandemic which sent the world economy into spirals, it was quite difficult for Samsung to make sales especially with it’s expensive flagship smartphones.

Even though numerous consumers had to either stick up with their old smartphones or just migrate entirely to a more entry-level or mid-range smartphones, the Chinese giant seems to be backing on it’s local consumers which in fact never let it down as we’re talking about billions of consumers here.

Even though Huawei might be making it right now, the long term of the success might just not be entirely guaranteed as the world is creeping back into normalcy even though there are new economy reforms being put in place to allow people work in the tightened situations caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, Huawei’s constant release of new devices should keep it at the race at the top.
