Founder of the biggest Chinese smartphone brand Huawei has made some optimistic statement about his company’s ability to survive through its difficult situation and make it through in flying colors at the end of it all.

In a report via Reuters, Ren Zhengfei made this statement since the inauguration of the new US President Joe Biden who many expects to reverse some executive orders made by the former President Trump.

Ren said Huawei clocked positive growth for revenue and net profit last year and continues to witness “significant levels of confidence from its customers,” the report said.

Ren was speaking at a the sidelines of an event in the northern Chinese city of Taiyun, where the company launched a 5G mining project. 

This was the first public statement made by the Huawei founder since last February after the company has been facing some serious sanctions from the US government under the Trump Administration since 2019.

Huawei has seen its market share drop sporadically due to this as well as its 5G infrastructures being uprooted from many western countries on the demands of the US government.

In the final quarter of 2020, Huawei’s mobile shipments plunged by 41% to 33 million, according to January report by Counterpoint Research, sending Huawei, once the world’s number one smartphone manufacturer, tumbling down to sixth place in global rankings.

The company’s current state is hard as the Chinese smartphone brand cannot work with Google and a bunch of other American companies which has had a big impact on the relevance of Huawei’s smartphones which despite their great hardware characteristics, no one trusts their AOSP-customized Android enough to buy one because of the world’s dependence on Google.
