While other executives of the company had left in the past couple of month especially the resignation of two high-profile employees on Friday, Tesla boss Elon Musk had announced that there had been shuffles within the company’s official structure via an email he had sent to his employees.
Eventhough, there seems to be no room for recruitment as of now, majority of those sudden promotions were finalized right before some of those recent resignations reported on Friday.
So this meant that Musk didn’t just promote some people without knowing what he was doing or that he was simply reacting to his Marijuana testing during a live-streamed podcast he had with Joe Rogan.
The move is needed to restructure the corporate system of the Tesla company and that might be a good move. Considering the fact that someone like Kevin Kasserkert had previously headed a place like the Infrastructure Development where he led development and construction of the Tesla’s gigafactory near Reno, Nevada.

So being promoted as the new Vice President of People and Places gives him the responsibilities of the Human Resources department which was vacated by Gaby Toledano.
With as huge as 37,000 employees and big facilities all around the globe, the company might be heading to a turn around. The shuffling will definitely help secure a better ground for the company to reach a wider reach and customers as Musk is never letting go of his dreams.
Another obvious promotion is that of Jerome Guillen as the President of Automotive. Guillen was once an executive at Daimler Freightliner executive and he will now oversee all the automotive operations and programs managements and also coordinate Tesla’s supply chain. He is familiar with this role. Guillen had also headed a big role at Tesla, the Tesla Truck Program and it’s global sales and service.
Other promotions and position updates include:
- Felicia Mayo, who was senior HR director and head of Tesla’s diversity and inclusion program, has been promoted to vice president level and will report to both Kassekert and Musk.
- Laurie Shelby, Tesla’s vice president of environmental, health and safety will now report directly to Musk.
- Cindy Nicola, who heads global recruiting at Tesla, will report to both Kassekert and Musk.
- Dave Arnold has been promoted to head of communications. Arnold fills the role after Sarah O’Brien left this month.
“We are about to have the most amazing quarter in our history, building and delivering more than twice as many cars as we did last quarter,” Musk wrote.
“For a while, there will be a lot of fuss and noise in the media. Just ignore them. Results are what matter and we are creating the most mind-blowing growth in the history of the automotive industry.”
Tesla produced 53,339 vehicles in the second quarter. If Tesla does build and deliver more than “twice” as many as cars as it did last quarter, that means the company would hit something like 107,000 vehicles.
