Even though there has been a number of breakthrough vaccines to combat the spread of the coronavirus, many events are still being cancelled and made virtual such as the recently concluded CES2021 but there is even more and that includes the Coachella music festival which has been scheduled for April.
Health officials have ordered the cancellation of the Coachella music festival for the year 2021 over the coronavirus pandemic making it the third time the pandemic will lead to the event being cancelled.
The event is an outdoor music festival which draws up hundreds of thousands around the world to the California desert where numerous music artists perform and entertain the audience.
“The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Stagecoach Country Music Festival currently scheduled for April 2021 are hereby canceled,” Riverside County Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser said in an order issued Friday. Kaiser’s order also canceled the Stagecoach Country Music Festival, also scheduled for April.
Due to the pandemic, Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser today (Jan. 29) signed a public health order canceling Coachella Valley Music and Arts, Stagecoach Country Music festivals planned for April 2021. We look forward to when the events may return. https://t.co/YAIn8uTea9

“This order is intended to reduce the likelihood of exposure to COVID-19,” the order states. “If COVID-19 were detected at these festivals, the scope and number of attendees and the nature of the venue would make it infeasible, if not impossible, to track those who may be placed at risk.”
The original schedule was April of 2020 but then postponed to October of that year because of the pandemic but there was no end to this and that led to the event being postponed again to its original April 2021 date which has now being postponed.
While there have been no official statements from the event’s organizers or health officials for that matter, its assumed that the event could still be rescheduled again this year to October – assuming the vaccine distribution increases but without this, the event could be cancelled altogether until the year 2022.
