When the US President Donald Trump announced that his administration might ban the Chinese short video sharing app TikTok, there was a mass panic among it’s high-follower users in the US amid the report.

One of such is Parker Pannell who has about 2 million followers on the platform and soon made a live broadcast to his followers after a call he had received from his friend that his likes and opinions had returned to zero.

In a word he had with CNN Business, Pannell pleaded with his followers to follow his own social media apps. Meanwhile TikTok soon explained that “Our servers in Virginia caused temporary service interruptions due to higher traffic than normal”.

I soon formed the theory that the ban might be prompting big “TikTokers” in the US to move their platform away from the service on to US own services such as Instagram, Facebook or YouTube.

With TikTok having majority of it’s users in India, Brazil and US, the company had already lost India while it might potentially lose the US market in the near future as odds are going against the company which the US government deemed to be unsafe and could steal people’s private data although TikTok had extensively denied this stating that it’s servers are out of China as well as the Chinese censor law had no interference with the company’s affair.

But Trump wants to ban TikTok anyway stating this to be his way of getting back at China for how it managed the COVID-19 pandemic which had caused a complete global economic crisis as well as killing tens of thousands worldwide.
